No worries, Harris. Post a new update where each player is described a bit. That will do a lot good.

Well obviously nobody knows any of these guys although I have heard of Scuderi before
Try to add some more writing with a little more details, don't need to rush the updates, just write a bit every day and post it when you have a good update, you don't have to update if you don't have time and/or are in a rush

yeah, but i saw someone's post on the first page saying 'over...' and i thought that any update is better than no update.

Don't worry mate. People were always there, they are there and they will always be there. Don't be confused with what they say. Just do when you feel like doing it.

No need to post any update in hurry mate. Just take your time and try to post the update which you think is good and worth posting. Let some members post over, story ended and so on type of comments.... Just avoid these sorts of comments. Concentrate on this story and your other story which is based on England and write stories for your and members here on pc fun. Just enjoy your story that?s it! Good start to the story mate. Really nice to see a story on Italy! It's new and if you put your best efforts to this then this certainly can be one of the better ones around. Best of luck! :)

Italy Squad Details
3/7/2010

Joe Scuderi: Batting AR

The 40 year-old skipper is nearing his time of retirement, however, his experience will be vital if his country are going to push for Division 2. The only player in the squad with a contract to a domestic team, although he has only played a handful of games for Worcestershire.

Davide Badessi: Batsman

26 year-old top order batsman has starred for the Napoli side during the domestic season and will be looking to continue that form into the World Cricket League.

Claudio Baseggio: Bowling AR

Leg-Spinner who is superb in the field, 23 years of age, but missed most of the domestic season with a leg injury, which he got after a motorcycle accident.

Guiseppe Di Maria: Batsman

The leading run scorer in the Italian domestic league for the last 2 years with the Milan team. Vaughan has already seen him as one of the men to lead Italy to glory in the future, so his runs will be crucial in this campaign.

Fabio Fellini: AR

At 37, Fabio has only played 4 seasons of domestic cricket in Italy after discovering the sport while some English friends stayed in his villa in Bologna. Breaking into the national side last year was a great success for him, but can he finally emerge as one of the veterans of the side.

Claudio Malco: Bowler

One of the few quicks in the squad, he has proved a useful member of the Brescia Lions squad this year, taking numerous wickets on the way to almost leading them to the title.

Stefano Mastrantoni: Bowler

The leading wicket-taker of this season's domestic league, he and Di Maria lead the Milan side to their second consecutive title. He will need to be on form if Italy are to push for the title.

Corrado Micheluzzi: Batsman

The 37 year-old really is one of the main members of the squad, however over recent years he has struggled to come to terms with the death of his two elderly parents in a house fire. His lack of availability has lead to a dip in form, but towards the end of last season, the runs started flowing again, but this could be Micheluzzi's last good year.

Nicholas Northcote: Wicket-Keeper

Him and brother Andy both have South-African blood in them, so the cricket pedigree is there, and with a safe pair of gloves behind the stumps, you don't want to be coming down the track with Nick behind the stumps.

Andy Northcote: Bowler

The younger of the two Northcotes, but maybe slightly more talented with the bat. Andy has had brief spells at Leicestershire and in South Africa with a club side, but he is comfortable on the international stage.

The rest of the players in the squad:

Gianmarco Macchi: Batsman
Armando Marturano: Batsman
Michele Pagni: Batsman
Riccardo Taranto: Bowler
Antonio Tinti: Bowling AR

World Cricket League Division 3 2009,

vs Hong Kong @ Rome

Joe Scudering got Italy off to a good start in the first match of their World Cricket League campaign by winning the toss against Hong Kong. The pitch was ideal for batting, and Joe chose to bat first. Vaughan said this morning that it was important to get off to a good start. Winning the toss could lead to that good start.

After 5 overs, the opening pair of Micheluzzi and skipper Scuderi had put on 24, both with 10 and 4 extras. Only one boundary so far, coming off the bat of Scuderi and Hong Kong haven?t really threatened with the ball yet.

The 50 partnership came up after 14 overs, Scuderi with 25, and Micheluzzi with 21. However, it looked like the age of the two players might be catching up with them as both players showed some signs of tiredness at the crease. The partnership will now need to kick on if Italy want to post a competitive total as the current run rate of 3.92 won?t give Italy a big enough score to defend.

Micheluzzi was the first to fall, edging to second slip on 32. A nice knock from a man who is still not at his best. However, he and Scuderi have laid the blocks for the middle order to get a move on and post a good total. Scuderi then brought up his 50 with a flick away through mid-wicket for 2, he and Pagni have brought the score up to 104/1 after 23 overs, a competitive total is definitely within reach now.

End of Over 30,
Italy: 133/1
JC Scuderi, 67 not out
M Pagni, 26 not out

The 100 partnership between Scuderi and Pagni was achieved in the 40th over of the Italian innings. The two of them have kept the scoreboard ticking over at a rate of 4.43 an over. Scuderi is very close to a century now, he?s still there on 90 and Pagni has accompanied him nicely at the other end with 44. 10 overs to go, Italy need to go for it now.

Finally, Scuderi punches one back down the ground and there it is. A magnificent 100 from the captain, setting a great example to the rest of this inexperienced Italy side. In the same over, Pagni brings up his 50, these two have played really well together, a partnership that could set the tone for the rest of Italy?s campaign.

End of Over 49,
Italy: 219/1
JC Scuderi, 110 not out
M Pagni, 62 not out

Going into the final over, let?s see what Italy can do, they need more runs so how many can they get,

49.1 - Bresnan to Scuderi, Yorker, no run there as Scuderi could only block it out to short cover
49.2 - Bresnan to Scuderi, slightly short of a length and Scuderi hits hit away for a single
49.3 - Bresnan to Pagni, Bouncer, and movement, Pagni completely bamboozled by that one, no run
49.4 - Bresnan to Pagni, full of a length and Pagni plays a cover drive for 2
49.5 - Bresnan to Pagni, a quick single to mid-wicket, Pagni scrambles home as the throw comes in
49.6 - Bresnan to Scuderi, last ball, movement away from the bat, and hit straight to point

End of Innings,
Italy: 223/1
JC Scuderi, 111 not out
M Pagni, 65 not out

So, Italy post a reasonable total of 223/1 after their 50 overs at a rate of 4.48. Lead by their captain Joe Scuderi, who scored a magnificent 111 not out, and backed up by Pagni who although scored 65 not out himself, would?ve gone on to score a big score had more overs been available. Micheluzzi was unlucky to edge one to second slip, but when he was batting, he lacked the authority over the bowlers that Scuderi and Pagni showed during their partnership. The conditions will give Hong Kong hope, it is still the batting paradise it was when Scuderi won the toss, and maybe the fact that Italy didn?t quite take full advantage of the conditions might mean that this match is a very closely fought one.
