Fremantle Dockers through the 2008 AFL Season

The Fremantle Dockers have always been the AFL's underachievers. There has been much speculation that the Dockers playing list is slow, old, and overrated. But in recent times things might change. With a new coach 'Mark Harvey' expected to add a extra grunt to the Dockers, and also with one of the most dangerous forwards in the competition 'Matthew Pavlich' as club captain Fremantle are looking forward to what hopes to be a exciting 2008 season.

Freo Flop In Pre Season

The dockers have been knocked out first round of the NAB Pre Season competition by cross town rivals West Coast. The Dockers got smashed but where without many key players such as Matthew Pavlich, Paul Haselby, and Peter Bell just to name a few. The Eagles went on to win the Pre Season Competition looking to give them a boost for the Home and Away Season. The Dockers however replied with a win over the Kangaroos in their NAB Challenge match at their home ground of Subiaco Oval. But lost the final two Pre Season matches both at Adelaide against the crows and the power. However despite poor pre season form shown by the Dockers recent history suggests that the Pre Season results may be misleading. The West Coast Eagles only won one of their Pre Season Matches in 2006 but went on to win the premiership that very same year. So the Dockers will be much looking forward to their opening match of the season which will be at their home ground of Subiaco Oval against the Power. Hope you enjoy.

Fremantle Smash Power

score1dockers.jpg

The Dockers could not have asked for a better start to the 2008 season. Smashing Port Adelaide by 62 points. The Dockers forward line was dominant all day. With Pavlich, Tarrant, and Young gun Marcus Drum all kicking 4 goals. There where also goals to flanker Bennet Copping who fought hard in his debut AFL match. Coming in for Peter Bell who was being rested for the week. Garrick Ibbotson also slotted one, as Fremantle drive through the forward half crushed and dismantled a tired power defense. But Port Adelaide skipper Warren Tredrea was good booting 3 goals but he was the only multiple goals scorer for the Power to the Dockers who amassed a total of 5 multiple goal scorers. Peter Burgoyne worked hard for the Power touching the ball 23 times and kicking a goal. But at the end of the day the Powers lack of quick ball movement and poor skills cost them. The dockers shrugging them off by 62 Points.
