Hashim Amla - The new wall?

Amla's innings against India was a joy to watch. He is not technically superior to Dravid but he matches Dravid's mental fortitude. Amla will definitely be a cornerstone for SA batting. He should average close to fifty by the time his twilight years come.

Thank you, this is what I was trying to drive home. I meant that he has the wall mentality. The guy just does not give his wicket away. His composure and wristy shots are also a treat to watch.

He didn't show a great deal of mental strength getting 40s and 50s often against Australia and not going on. I would take Dravid, Ponting and Sangakarra way way further as far as mental strength and application and throw in Tendulkar, Chanderpaul, Yousef, Kallis to name a few.

Playing an inswinger at 90 mph from a left armer, is never going to be easy. He was pretty consistent and has learned from his mistakes. The recent series in England really showed of his mental fortitude. Playing some very good knocks in more than hard conditions.

Breached.

Amla Proves himself yet again with a brisk hundred against India in Second Test :clap.

Amla is also probably the only person in world cricket who honestly walks (not just when its convenient).

Solid player. I am really impressed by everything he does. Good technique, Great Temperament and Some Sensational Drives. Didnt see the whole of his knock, but at one stage Ishant Sharma troubled him with a pair of unpredicted bouncers, but then he Amla just stood there and left the next 20 odd bouncers from Ishant. Anyone in his place would have a go atleast once. He has got the temperament of the new wall, but I'd like to see more of him before making a clear statement. I mean we all know that Indian bowling isnt the toughest ones these days, getting a pair of centuries in India does count though.

There is just one Rahul Dravid. Hashim is good but he's still got a fair distance to go. Shivnarine Chanderpaul comes 2nd after the Wall, if you take into consideration, the parameters stated in Post 1.

Amla's real test will be inn the second innings in the test match in Kolkatta. Lets see if he has the mental strength to save the test for South Africa
