Hashim Amla - The new wall?

^ i dont agree with you mate he his one of the best classic players compared to Amla , he has secured Victory's for India in most of the matches , in the similar manner of Amla (did in the Current test series against India) ,

My views :
@ Amla "THE WALL" i may agree with it he can try to reach R.Dravid about 45-60 % but he is not as good as R.Dravid . :noway

You guys don't get it, "the wall" is a mentality , a style of play and temperament.

oh really! we were thinking literally, somewhere along the line... :p

You do not have to be as good as someone to be called as 'Wall'. Amla played nearly 400 deliveries and stayed on wicket for 500 minutes in second innings. His shot selection perfectly justified his temperament. It is more harder to stay on the wicket to save a match than score some quick hundreds. You might see lots of elegant players or stroke players. But most of time you need temperament to make the most of your talent. It is irrelevant to compare him with Dravid but at least for this series he deserved the title 'Wall'.

just by seeing his innings in India one cannot say he is a wall, definetly he plays good strokes,he may also commit mistakes. But as Indian ground condition supports a perfect Batting Surface. So for Considering him as a wall,he must save his team against all the nations of the world.Only then ,he can become a wall

hashim amla is good play great cricket against India he is super player for test match cricket

Bump,

Amla deserves a bit more appreciation after his back to back 100s. Sure they are against Zim but boy is this man consistent.

Easily one of the most underrated batsmen today. It took him so long to break into the ODI side and how its hard to imagine them without him.

One of the most improved batsmen in the world for me. When he first played against England in his debut series he looked to be way sort of international class; if the ball got above waist height he was a goner pretty much.

Now you look at him he's one of the classiest batsmen around and has developed his game so he can play aggressively with ease.

yeah, it was on the next tour to england he totally changed my mind. He'd had some form before then but I was thinking "lol you're about to be bounced out of it, amla."

england tried their best to do so and he wasn't, he was a pillar when they were securing that draw in the 1st test. He's a brilliant player, him and de villiers will be a rock solid 3 and 4 in a few years time.

He has only played against India, WI and Zimbabwe in the last year. His good form should be put into perspective.
