This is why Badri is a godsend. Dravid has a few years left but Badrinath is the perfect replacement. Got the technique, talent, and temperament - everything that we need to stabilize our middle order.
he is definitely the next Md Yousuf![]()
The innings at Sydney is the one I remember most. They simply could not bowl to him outside the off stump.Laxman is a rare player that can adjust to the higher bounce really well in Australia, that is why he has a fantastic record against us. Pitches like Brisbane and Perth that suit high quality fast bowling he plays well on.
A bit like Damien Martyn?
Like you said he will soon become a permanent fixture in the ODI team and he should remain a crucial part of South Africas middle order for years.
:laugh Amla's never going to be as good a batsman as Rahul Dravid, unless he makes drastic changes to his technique. He's a good player, but some of the praise he's been getting around here since he made a score against India is just ridiculous. He's having a good year or so, I don't expect it to last. There's very little chance of him going down as one of the greats of the era for me. He's not even in the top 3 most talented batsmen in his team.
Amla isn't as gifted as some players, but he makes it up with immense powers of concentration. He's delicate and a joy to watch when on song. My favorite part about Amla is that he doesn't get pressurized, and plays along the ground. He makes the team earn his wicket, especially in these last two years. That knock against England in the first test, was just great. It took a completely unplayable ball to get him out, but that was a great innings. Better than the double for me.
But lets not compare him to Dravid. There will only be one Dravid. That's how immensly talented that man is. You can't replicate him.
Let's just let Amla be himself instead, and not throw comparisons around.
