Hashim Amla - The new wall?

Without a doubt Hashim Amla has secured his Test place, its only a matter of time before he is a permanent fixture in the ODI side.

He seems to be one of the most calm and composed batsman today and very modest.

Which South African batsman (past/current) does he most remind you off?

Which International batsman does he compare best with and where do you think his future is heading.

He's good but still doesn't compare to Dravid i'd say. Has a ways to go yet. It was a good knock but consider the conditions - pancake of a track, the only potent bowler was Zaheer who isn't nearly as effective as he is when there is some help for him. Ishant sucks, Harbhajan throws pies, and Mishra isn't threatening at all.

We need to get some away tours ASAP just to give some confidence back to our bowlers.

Lol definitely a long way to go before he can compare to Dravid, but he is one of the few who has the potential to do so.

I will say Moh'd Yousuf as the next wall. He is atm not in song but he has more potential than Amla but Amla also a thick wall. Still Dravid will take more balls than anyone :p

Except Yousuf's past his prime at 35.

It'll probably be Ian Bell tbf

A bit like Damien Martyn?

Like you said he will soon become a permanent fixture in the ODI team and he should remain a crucial part of South Africas middle order for years.

The term "wall" is idiotic. There is no such thing.

More than Rahul, Amla reminds me a lot of MoYo. Maybe it's the beard :p

I've never really rated Amla much tbh with you, I've always thought he's had a pretty average technique. I don't think he's capable of averaging 50+ but he'll end up a pretty decent player.

From what I saw of him against us, he was far from a wall. He kept getting starts then throwing away his wicket. The closest player to the wall is Kallis, none of the young players coming through really fit that bill.
