Tues 7th July 2009

I was sitting at home after work reading the paper. "I needed a new job", I thought so I looked at the jobs section. I had my eyes on the jobs available as football managers. I had played football when I was younger, even if not professional and I had always thought I would make a good manager. The job that stood out to me was the job for Turkey but I thought I would never have a chance of getting the job. "What's there to lose", I thought and wrote up a letter with my jobs, my footballing experience also mentioning about how well I do on footballer manager and sent it off. I made a lot of copies of the letter and sent them off to apply for other jobs that were available. Malta, Colombia, Ecuador, Mali, Sudan, Congo, Liberia and club teams, Srem, Tranmere, Lviv, Valladolid and Bradford. I sat there thinking about it for the next 5 minutes before decuding to turn the television on. I couldn't wait for the answer.

Good luck in your new career :)

It had been 2 months since I sent those applications and a few more for some national U19 and U21 teams. All of my applications had been turned down except for Tranmere and the last applications I sent for the U19 teams of Senegal and Ghana and the U21 Malta team. I was starting to wonder why they hadn't replied yet. I went back and checked to make sure I Hadn't recieved a reply. I couldn't find anything. I had a look at the Tranmerre website. THey apparently had a caretaker manager so I knew applications were still being taken. Surely they would have gotten back to me by now unless they had dismissed my application completely. All the other applications had been replied to so why not this one. I wasn't sure. There was no new jobs available for managing positions. Mostly coaching positions that were available. All I could do was wait for them to respond or for another job to become available. I decided to just ask them whether they had read my application or not. I just hoped they would reply to this.

Ok. Does anyone know whether there is something wrong with taking the Tranmere job and they don't reply or what. I don't normally start unemployed and when I do, normally I get a job from a team pretty quickly.

There are sometimes a few jobs that never reply. Tranmere is one I believe. Hercules is one on FM08.

Ok. I don't think I added enough leagues or set my reputation high enough as everbody dismisses me. I couldn't even get a job at Crewe who were in last in Coca Cola League 2 and the worst team in Serbia rejected me.

Good writing Brendon, its sad you have not been offered a job. I feel just higher your reputation using FMRTE.

I was thinking that I should just not worry about football managing until I got a reply to my application to be the new Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Okhtyrka manager. I read it. "I am happy to announce that your application has been successful. We would like to offer you a 2 year contract worth 22,000 pounds per annum. You will have a transfer budget of 50,000 pounds and a wage budget of 275,000 pounds if you accept this offer. We would love to hear your answer soon." I was very happy that I finally had one of my applications successful. I quickly replied accepting the offer. Nearly as easy as clicking an accept button on fooball manager. I called my boss and told him I had been appointed as manager of Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Okhtyrka. "Who???", he had said when I told him. "Some Ukrainian club. Don't know much about them". I had already told him that I might be taking a job as manager of a football club and he said that I could resign as soon as that happened. 2 hours later and I was on a flight to Ukraine. The Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Okhtyrka chairman, Andriy Polunin had organised it. The first question I was asked when I got there after a greeting from the chairman and the rest of the staff was whether or not I wanted to replace the current captain and vice captain. I said I would keep the same captain and vice captain pair of Vadym Kharchenko and Valeriy Ivaschenko. I decided to return to the hotel that I was staying in until I could rent a house but before I left, my assistant manager came up to me. It took me a few seconds for me to remember his name. Vadym Kolesnyk. That was it. "Just thought I should let you know that you're attending a press conference tomorrow at 9:30 am at the stadium so make sure you're ready". "Ok then. I'll be there. I'm going back to the hotel now so see you later", I replied. "Yeah. No problem". I drove back to the hotel before checking in and heading up to my room. It was 7 pm so I went down and had some tea before heading back up to have a shower before thinking about this job.

They all speak English in Ukraine? :p

lol. I was thinking the same thing when I posted that but I wasn't going to go learn Ukrainian on my first day. So my assistant manager speaks English.

It wouldn't be a very good story if they were all speaking in the native tongue :p

Solid start here mate - intrigued by your management of a tiny club.

Since you have gone for the realism effect I feel you could try and carry that on a bit more as it is coming out rather unrealistic, but still it's an improved start now. Good luck with this Hedger!
