i bowl on a leg-stump line and generally have quite a bit of success there, but somtimes there are batsmen who just come down the wicket and slogg me for four quite easily. how do i avoid this, and how can i get him, where do i bowl?, etc.....

:help

Make sure to mix up your pace mate, varying the flight, if you see him coming bowl a bit quicker, and pull your length back a bit if you want to be avoid being slogged ;)

Do what Rob Croft does (and many others). If a batsman attacks you on the ball before and he looks like he wants to do it next ball, change your run up a bit. Ie, put a stop on it and always watch the batsman.

or if you see the batsmen advancing just stop and walk back to your mark, will put them off :p

Variation is the key. I've had a few guys stumped coming down the track to my flighted delivery.
Bearing in mind you probably don't turn it much (maybe you do!) and most pitches are spinner unfriendly use the change of pace well. Anything you can send above the eyeline will be very hard to time properly.

throw it at them

Bowl slower. They have to generate all the power plus, if you can bowl slower or quicker without that much of a change in your action, you can deceive them. I'm an offy and that's how i get my wickets or wicket

thanks you guys, much appreciated, and i will try them this saturday!

Practice first...
Get your stock ball working well then experiment with a ripped quicker one and a flighted slower one. Neither are all that hard to bowl and you can keep the action pretty much the same for all three.

Dont worry about getting slogged its what spinners get if batsmen are on form, its the one thing which destroys a decent spinner.

If your getting slogged, do a little test, flight on up, if it goes for runs, make it a little flatter, mix it up aswell, just keep going and dont put your head down :) Think of the great spinners, Murali, Warne and Kumble to name a few dont mind, they know they can combat it ;) Learn how to combat!

I'm a fast bowler myself, bit I've always felt that for spinners, length is the key. Bowl short and the poorest of batsmen (and I include myself in this :p) will have plenty of time to pull or cut you away. Only bowl short if the batsman is coming down the wicket at you (and I mean he's coming at you that ball). This will make it much trickier to hit and brings stumpings into play.

To be honest, all spinners get slogged sometimes. Shane Warne may have taken the most test wickets, but he's been hit for 6 for time than any other bowler too. The key is to get on top of the batsman and keep him defending.

great but, its a bit tricky making a batsen defend in a 20-30 over game!.....:p

top advice. The stock ball is the key, once you got that going all your variations can work around it.

vary how much you spin it as well. you don't have to develop a slider as you're not facing world class batsmen :p just vary the flick of your wrists

I know, but just string a couple of maidens together and it really puts pressure on the batsman - suddenly he's under pressure to score off you rather than you being under pressure to stop him scoring. When the pressure's on him, that's when he'll do something stupid.
