How do you find cheatcodes ??? - Do u have any softwares ???

Hey to everyone,
Can anyone tell me how to find out cheat codes for a game ?? I know that you have cheat machine and other software which give out cheatcodes. But how do they actually find out cheats and easter eggs in softwares.

My guess is, the game developers leak them!

Well, the cheat engines I know of, only cheat in terms of resources,
eg.in AoE you gather a know amount of resource, the engine searches for it , then you use it , the engine now searches which value is changed, so you know where values for resource is stored and modify it urself..............or something like this I guess :P
As for BLC there was some forum member who said he found some cheats in text strings while hex editing (or disassembling maybe .. dont remember what he was doing) the blc exe files.
