How does catching work?

I'm struggling with manual catching. I use left stick then press A(pc version) when the cycles align but never get he wicket? What is the trick? Do you need to get it in the box within a time limit or something? Can anyone explain the mechanic to me because it isn't working. Thanks

Sometimes it looks like a catch but on replay the ball has bounced. This does me quite a lot. Also, caught behinds may be broken. If you're taking about outfield catches, then I don't know. Sounds to me that you're doing it correctly.

I'm talking about the reflex catch (outfield). I understand the circle is supposed to turn green before you press A (PC version). It never turns green. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Could be a bug?

That's weird. Mine (egg box) will turn green, then I press A. I have fielding on easy though, if that makes a difference.
