I will be carrying on my Zimbabwe diary but I'm going to start this one as Lancs. Hope you enjoy it.

So before the season started, I signed 18 year old Kevin Batty, on a new contract. He is a wicket keeper with a batting average of over 42.

The first game of the season was at Old Trafford against Hampshire, I instructed the Curator to prepare a seaming wicket to suit my attack.

Hampshire have won the toss and unsuprisingly elected to bat. And as openers Chris Benham and Michael Brown come out from the Lancashire pavillion, James Anderson is ready to get us underway...

Session report to follow tommorow

Good start, well presented, will be nice to see if Lancashire get their season off to a flyer!

Yes, but please finish your two stories, very enjoyable, good luck with this one, Phil.

Great batting by Crawley and Thornely!!! Seems to be bad signs for Lancashire!!! They shd take some quick wickets to bounce back!!! :cheers

Congrats on 100th post! I agree that it should be daily updates; session updates is just too much. Lancashire struggling.

Better Luck for Lancs next time :cheers

Team changes for Lancashire: Gary Keedy comes in for Glen Chapple, Stuart Law is still weeks away from full fitness.

Leicestershire have won the toss and elected to bat on a cloudy day. The pitch is not expected to detoriate too much.

Average score batting first at Old Trafford: 243

The crowd look on in a sunny Manchester afternoon as the 2 teams get onto the outfield.

Lancs bowler's skittle Leicestershire for 175.

Lancashire will require a mere 176 to win the first C&G Trohy game of the season at Old Trafford. That is after an amazing 6-fer for England star Andrew Flintoff. Freddie bowled 6-49 from 9 overs and was undoubtely the pick of the bowlers, his wickets included the top 3 in Leicestershire's batting order. No.6 Tom New top scored with 31.
