Some fantastic play by Lancashire here. They really bounced back. I feel Leicestershire's batting let them down. They didn't really have an anchor player, who would stay their for the whole innings.
Good luck Lancashire! 1 good performance and 1 bad performance. Could be a mixed season for the Lancs. Let's hope not. Nice presenation Phil, good work.
Well a mixed day for Lancashire here at Chester-Le-Street. After Durham batted first, they were all out for 299, just after tea, Lancashire would feel pleased about that, however, Lancashire struggled to 37-2 in the gloom in the North-East. Iain Sutcliffe got out for 3 and Mark Chilton was out for 7, leaving Mal Loye and Marcus North both on 11 not out overnight. Earlier Kyle Coetzer top scored with 71 for Durham. While spinner Gary Keedy took 6-106 for Lancashire.

Well nice bit of bowling from the Lancashire team today, but I really have to have a moan at the groundsman for this pitch, bit of a shocker as far as batting is concerned. Hopefully we should have an interesting day of cricket tommorow.
Durham controlled day 2 at the County Championship game between themselves and Lancashire at Chester-Le-Street. 2 England boys sparkled with the ball for Durham, between them taking 8 wickets, one of the 2 was very suprising. Lancashire were all out for 156 in their first innings, leaving them 143 behind. Fast bowler Steve Harmison took 5-41 and Paul Collingwood took 3-26 as cloudy conditions proved a problem for the Lancastrians.
Mal Loye top scored with 38 for Lancs. Durham started their response, in the middle of the afternoon session. After a shaky start which led them to 28-2 Jimmy Maher and Paul Collingwood excelled as they made a unbeaten 124 partnership which led opener Maher to 78* and Collingwood to 54*. Durham now lead by 295 runs.

3rd Man's chair - Geoffrey Boycott:
When will they learn? You have got to bat sensibly to score runs, all the batsmen were frustrated by the low run rate, and so tried to hit out, it's unacceptable. In the last session, Durham gave Lancashire a lesson on how to bat on a pitch like this.
Lancs have to be careful as they trail by huge margin...Possible Lancs shd be ready to play one and a half day as declration may come form Durham at lunch on Day3!!!!
Lancashire battled well on Day 3 at Chester-Le-Street. They reached 74-1 in their 2nd innings at the end of play. That was after Durham declared on 374-8, leaving Lancashire a target of 518.
Jimmy Maher top scored for Durham with 108. Sajid Mahmood took Lancashire's best bowling figures of 3-109.
Lancashire were left on 74-1, with Iain Sutcliffe on 34 not out, alongside the unbeaten Malachie Loye. The only wicket to fall was that of Mark Chilton who was bowled by off-spinner Gareth Breese.

I would say Lancs have had the better of the day, a day that saw a massive hit out of the ground by Paul Collingwood, I responded by shouting "Sixer". But seriously, I think Lancashire can save the game. But they need to bat well.
Lancashire comfortably managed to save the Liverpool Victoria County Championship game against Durham at Chester-Le-Street. Marcus North scored 84*, Iain Sutcliffe made 77 and Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff got 66*. Lancashire ended the match on 291-3, meaning they only lost 2 wickets on a day which was not at all interuppted by rain. Anthony Davis got 1-62 for Durham's bowling attack. Aussie Jimmy Maher, got Man Of The Match for his wonderful century in Durham's 2nd innings.
3rd Mans Chair: David Lloyd-
Well, after the first 2 days, it was nearly "start the car time for Durham", but all credit goes to Lancs, they batted so well in their 2nd innings. I know he hates Lancs, but Boycott, was sitting at the back of the commentary box, and the style of cricket being played by Lancashire reminded him of how he was. I brought a smirk to his face.
