Story (icc 06)

NOTE: After the workload of previous updates, the updates will now be done matchly. One Day game later.

Worcestershire v Lancashire at New Road

Teams:

Worcestershire: Jaques, Moore, Hick, Solanki, Smith, Davies, Batty, K Ali, Price, Khan, Mason.

Lancashire: Loye, Chilton, Hodge, North, Flintoff, Marshall, Sutton, Cork, Chapple, Anderson, Keedy.

So Brad Hodge returns from Australia's tour of Bangladesh to play his first game of the season. Lets check the weather and pitch conditions with Ian Botham.

Weather and Pitch conditions: Fast bowlers will not like this pitch, however spinners may get some spin later on. Because of the overnight rain, the outfield is very slow. Even bounce means generally quite a good day for batting. However the will be cloud cover all day. The sun maybe out in the morning but will fade later on. You would say, win the toss, bat first and make 270.

Toss: Worcestershire have won the toss and will bat first.

Lancs Win In Tight Finish

Lancashire 223-8 (49.4) beat
Worcestershire 222-8 (50)

Dominic Cork and Jimmy Anderson led Lancashire home at New Road by 2 wickets. They reduced the Worcestershire innings to 222-8 off their 50 overs with some good bowling from Dominic Cork and the economical Andrew Flintoff. Steven Davies made 71* from 95 balls for the home side.

Lancashire's reply started off comfortably reaching 119-3. But wickets fell, after a great partnership from Freddie Flintoff and Brad Hodge was ended on 89. Luke Sutton and Simon Marshall made contributing scores in a 49 partnership and it was left to Cork and Anderson who needed 8 to win off the last over, here it was, bowled by Gareth Batty:

49.1: NO RUN: Cork plays and misses off a short delievery. Pressure on now. 8 to win off 5 balls.

49.2: 3 RUNS: 218-8: Cork drives through extra cover, Vikram Solanki gets round in time to cut off the boundary. 5 to win off 4 balls.

49.3: 1 RUN: 219-8: Anderson gets Cork back on strike with a shot to long off. 4 to win off 3 balls.

49.4: 4 RUNS: Cork dispatches a short ball off his pads, it goes to the boundary at fine leg. This is after fine leg was brought of short. Lancashire win the match by 2 wickets.

Facinating game at New Road, Its times like that you still wish you were playing. Great batting firstly by Steven Davis, then by Brad Hodge and then Dominic Cork. A word to the groundsman at New Road, he did a great job in making a pitch suitable for one day cricket, we had boundaries, wickets and a close finish.

Good win by Lancs in thrill with just two balls remaining!!! Well done Lancs!!! :cheers

Lancashire v Kent LVCC

Teams:

Lancashire: Loye, Chilton, Hodge, North, Flintoff, Marshall, Sutton, Cork, Chapple, Anderson, Keedy.

Kent: Key, Fulton, Hall, Kemp, O?Brien, Walker, Stevens, Jones, Khan, Joseph, Saggers.

Weather and Pitch conditions: Bright morning here, not easy for batting, nice uneven bounce for pace bowlers and it will spin for spinners.

Toss: Lancashire have won the toss and will bat.

Aussie star wins the game with great double ton

Brad Hodge hit an unbeaten 233 from 323 balls, with 30 fours, to help Lancashire to their first win in the LVCC this season. He was supported by a Mal Loye who made 128 and club captain Mark Chilton who scored 84. Amjad Khan took the best figures for Kent with 4-152 at almost 4 and a half an over. Lancashire declared on 626-7, with Glen Chapple joining Hodge at the crease.

Hodge's hawkeye of 4's.

On a pitch that was doing a bit, Kent in any other match didn?t do too bad, making 310 all out, but that was much too little because of the Lancashire innings. Justin Kemp top scored for Kent with a fluent 110. His fellow South African Andrew Hall was out for a 19-ball duck. Dominic Cork, Glen Chapple and Andrew Flintoff all took 3 wickets while James Anderson took the other.

Kent were asked to follow-on, halfway through day 3. They started well and reached 79-1 before a collapse left them at 125-5. They were eventually bowled out for 252, despite a resilient 65 by Andrew Hall. Jimmy Anderson took 3-39 from 19 overs, while Glenn Chapple took another 3 wickets, meaning he took 6 in the match. Lancashire won by an innings and 64 runs. Brad Hodge was rightly name Man of the Match.

Anderson takes the 8th wicket in Kent's 2nd innings.

3rd Mans Chair - David Gower

Easy win for Lancs, for the next sky sports match which will be Northants v Lancashire, we want your thoughts on whether to walk or not, so fire them in.

Like I said in the David Gower bit, can people start giving thoughts on whether batsmen should walk or not.

Sorry for no recent updates, guys. I will do them soon, just been a bit busy recently.
