India make a magnificant start to their ICC Champions trophy campaign after setting England (user) a mammoth 361 to win. V.Sehwag and R.Dravid both scored highly with Dravid reaching his 100 in the final over before getting out the very next ball. It took england just before the end of field restrictions when they finally got a break through after a brilliant delivery by D.Gough. Unfortunetly there were not many spectators watching this match which looks likely to be a thriller.

The tailenders continues to struggle with the yorkers from Harmison and Gough.

England struggle which such a big total

ICC Champions Trophy - 2005
England got of to the worst possible start after losing 1 over after a poor over rate whilst they were bowling. This meant that england now had 49 overs to chase 361. The was onbly 2 real success stories in england chase with G.Jones and A.Flintoff passing their 50. However they gave away their wickets leaving England in a difficult situation. England go into there next match needing to win. However England will have another chance when they meet India in the 2nd meeting which is sure to be sell out.

Sky Sports Ian Botham caugth up with S.Ganguly and M.Vaughan.

Ian Botham- "S.Ganguly congratulations on the comprehensive victory by your team."

S.Ganguly- "Thanks. I thing we played extremely well and we head into our next game with Zimbabwe in good spirits. I am looking forward to are replay
against England since the 1st game was a brilliant one."

Ian Botham- "Do you think your team will secure there place in the semi final and possibly the final?

S.Ganguly- "Definetly, i think we have a good team with a mixture of young and old. After scoring 360 i a opening game without any real preperation games and only some nets i think we have a definet chance."

Ian Botham- "Thanks Ganguly and now lest talk to M.Vaughan. Micheal, not the best english performance today."

M.Vaughan- "No, not really. I think we need to bowl tighter and keep the runs down. India got away from us straight away and after a 1 over penalty we were doomed from the start. However we have a few days rest and therefore plenty of net practice."

Ian Botham- "Do you think that your team will make it past the group stages and into the finals etc?"

M.Vaughan- "Well a loss of your opening game is a huge set back but we still think we can get through. We have 3 games left with a replay against India and a victory there could seal our place in the semis."

Ian Botham- "Whats your view on the crowd numbers and runners up trophy."

M.Vaughan- "Well i think the runners up trophy is a good idea. It enables the teams which possibly just missed out on a semi final place to compete in just as good a Trophy. This is our next target if the ICC Champions Trophy becomes out of reach. I was a bit dissappointed with today's turnout with stadium nearly empty. Unfortunetly our next game against Zimbabwe is said to have the same number of spectators. However we are ensured that the India reply is soldout already after tonigths match and furthermore the Zimbabwe replay is said to be half full."

Ian Botham- "Thanks for talking to us and good luck with your match with Zimbabwe.

M.Vaughan- "Thanks."

I used the Graphics importer to copy the english crowds used in county matches and then replace the new Zealand crowds with them.
