IIT - Indian Institute of Technology. The international value?

I have just filled the form of FTRE (FIITJEE Talent Reward Exam) and planning to fill the form of Bansals and Vibrant. I am currently in class X. The only reason for starting preparing for IIT is that i wish to join Merchant Navy.

Speaking of international value, IIT Bombay was ranked 30th among all engineering universities by The Times Higher Education Supplement. Some other IIT's feature in the top 100 as well.

From personal experience IITs always land pretty good jobs here in the US. But TBH, an engineering degree is not enough to earn big bucks, you HAVE to do an MBA and work in the business field. Don't do an MS if you want to make tons of money, all you'll be doing is research in a university making decent (but not great) money.

IIM people i've met are usually very, very successful.

Thats what I am thinking of doing now (applied for the MBA; hoping to get it).
