i was wondering how many people gave the IIT JEE this year.
For those not aware, IIT is the most prestigious Engineering institute of India, and JEE is one of the toughest exams in the counrty.

well iit jee is in the news for all the wrong reasons thanks to our politicians.
I myself will soon be getting through post graduate medical entrance in 1-2 months but these politicians......

What the heck ?
27 % reservations....
They might as well have hundred percent. The reason for this-they are not feeling at home in their own country.
Then what do we,the open category feel in our own country ? Out-landers ?

At 27% or overall 49.5% the heat is being felt.In some states like Tamil Nadu the reservation is already 90%, I mean 30 seats from a total of 438 seats is for general category.I myself have cleared one of the most difficult papers of the country Maharashtra PGMCET 2006 with a good rank. But will still not get a subject of my choice due to the 50% mandatory reservation .And many reserved category students with good ranks take admission in general category thereby making it effectively 75% !
I am still not totally against reservation but it should be decided as to who really need it.And there should be only one reservation the economically backward class and nothing else. Moreover the reservation rules should be ammended as one person should be allowed reservation only once in a life time and it should be upto him to decide when he wants to use it.If a person uses reservation then his children should not get the same facility. This is the only way to bring the weaker class forward and making them self dependent.
please do post it here what you think of this suggestion.

I sometimes wonder what if they brought 50% reservation in Indian Cricket team?A nice idea for them...

ADMIN NOTE: Topic closed, due to potential for creating mistrust and polarizing forum members.

This topic has been debated to hell, and everybody is just confused and nothing is being gained. Its a big movement on the net right now, and members are welcome to air their views elsewhere on the web or otherwise. I hear that there are petitions doing the rounds and if you're unhappy with the government's actions please sign them and in doing so you can express your anger/frustration with this action.

As a side note, I'll recommend members to read Barkha Dutt's insightful peice on the issue of reservation in today's Hindustan Times.
