These guys (the Indian team) overperformed in the first 2 tests. This is the reality.

Absolutely brilliant from the two all-rounders here. Sometimes we undermine how lucky India have been to have the all-rounders like Jadeja, Ashwin, Washy, Hardik and Axar. Nitish and Thakur though not quite at the same level, provide good balance.

As someone who grew up watching cricket in the early 2000s, I cannot stress enough how much more that star studded team 2003ish would have achieved had we had genuine all-rounders and keeper batters at our disposal.

The rate at which they are scoring says that they don't want to win.

A win for India went out the window the moment England scored 700. To expect them to give England some sort of a total to chase would be akin to shooting themselves in the foot. They were on the right track for once.

Gill needs another 60 runs to break laras record in a test series, he should be able to do that on a flat oval pitch

Good effort from India. I will still call out Jadeja for not performing when India needs to go for a win. Yesterday's innings was quite measured and helped India avoid defeat which was good. But he needs to be more consistent and deliver when it matters. Also, needs to contribute with the ball. Anyhow, I don't see him as a long term option, probably the WI series will be his last.

The good thing though has been Washington Sundar. He had shown his class during the Australia tour and has carried on from there. I rate him higher than Jadeja and Ashwin and feel that Sundar can be promoted up the order as well., potentially heling us add on another all rounder in the near future.

On to The Oval, I see no reason why Bumrah should not be played there. We are short of bowlers and he does get adequate rest. Playing him might help us level the series and if so, that's a very good reason to have him in the XI. Bear in mind we don't have any engagements until later, so he will get adequate rest.
