I still feel Uthappa wont be needed. The lineup below looks solid if

  1. Ruturaj
  2. Faf
  3. Raina
  4. Overseas player - Empty due to Watson retiring
  5. Thala
  6. Jadeja
  7. Curran
  8. Bravo/Santner
  9. Shardul
  10. Chahar
  11. Karn
Rayudu at 4?

I think it's a good trade considering the whole Covid thing man. I think KKR have a really small squad and if that bubble gets busted, god have mercy! I hope CSK don't automatically make Faf the default starter for the foreign player spot. They should keep things open ended and get a foreign batter that can also lean over into a new era. I think Jason Roy would be a fantastic one year option for them. Steve Smith, a more long term prospect while Moeen Ali would fit their DNA to the hilt.

@SaiSrini- Do you want to bet with me that RCB will go bananas over Jadhav, Maxwell and Starc?

Ha ha.... I kinda sense it! It would be the joke of the century if RCB try on Jadhav again... Maxi and Starc? Yeah maybe! I know you think Maxi is overrated, but he also had mental health issues before last IPL and seeing the way he bounced back in the ODI/T20I's in the recent India tour of Australia, can see many franchises have renewed interest in him.

I think Maxwell is an outstanding white ball player but he's never ever clicked in India or the IPL and now the data size is a decade old. I think the international circuit has lesser quality spinners or at least wrist spinners but they fall like apples in an orchard in the IPL and he has got issues there.

He definitely can make it work in the IPL but he needs a franchise like MI/CSK/SRH. I feel RCB will be the final nail in his IPL coffin. His quality otherwise is indisputable and he's actually a very likeable bloke.

Finch for CSK anayone?

Can open the innings alongside FAF or Ruturaj.

Might just well perform well under MSD & CSK management.

I doubt Finchy's capabilities against quality spin and we don't need an opener to be honest. What we require is someone comfortable with batting anywhere in the top four. Steve Smith could actually do wonders on a sluggish Chepauk pitch, he should be the priority target given that Dhoni and Fleming have already worked with him. Maxi could be an interesting option who could also slot in at number four but he has never really worked well in the IPL barring a couple of seasons.

Gaikwad
Faf
Raina/Jagadeesan
Maxi? Smudge?
Jadeja
Curran/Dhoni
Dhoni/Curran
Chahar
Thakur/Karn Sharma
Tahir/Hazlewood
Domestic spinner/Sai Kishore (the latter would be my first preference)

Get some underrated domestic prospects in and this could be a fantastic side.

Well the same can be said about Baz McCullum was founding out against slow bowlers after that opening 158 for KKR - teams used spin against him and struggled to get going in the KKR setup.

But come CSK it was a different story altogether scored 405 & 436 in 2014 & 2015 season respectively with 100 in 2015 season that too in Chepauk.

The thing with CSK is they utilizes players potential better then any other Franchise.

Finch maybe in horrible form in the current BBL season but was a beast prior to that in Limited overs series against India.

He can be a proper like to like replacement for Watson IMO and and I won't be surprised if Fleming & co. might just go for him in the auction.

Chances are he might selected at the base price itself seeing his current form.

I think, this time CSK management will buy Ben McDermott. No one bought him last year, it was quite shocking. Kyle Jamieson & Mujeeb Ur Rahman are also in their radar. They will sure go for young guns like Shivam Dube & Unadkat.

I know I'll get kicked around for this but I have always found Finch as a flat track bully and someone who can hit only a certain type of bowler. His record is a lot down to how modern day LOI cricket is played and the fact that most big teams don't play their best players in bilaterals. One of the most overrated cricketers of all time and by far the worst Aussie captain I have seen. That's a very very prestigious thing to be.

I had called his failure at RCB before the season began and yes, he can roll off 400 run seasons but he won't be the kind of impact player you need from an overseas batter simply because the IPL is a very competitive tournament where every match matters and he doesn't have the game for it.

I was very sad to see WI become almost a minnow and the Aussies are out and out the biggest villains to all our heroes and we need them to be really really hard and competitive. There is something to admire about the Aussies and their culture to play and push you so hard that you discover things within you that you never knew existed and for Finch to be a representative of that culture is disappointing to say the least. David Warner will play the next three world cups and he is a very very good leader no matter what his perception is. Australia are going hammer and tongs at replacing Paine when the real replacing needed is in the LOI format.

Umesh Yadav unfollowing RCB's social media accounts and him and his wife (Tanya) suddenly starting to follow CSK's social media account since yesterday, has caused heart attack panic among CSK fans :lol:noway:facepalm

Honestly CSK does not need Umesh at all as we have Shardul, who is more than enough for attacking bowling and Shardul can bat way better! I hope CSK doesn't even think along the lines of getting Umesh

Unadkat has not been released by RR. They have retained him.

Shivam Dude could be a hot pick at the auction and a few teams might go after him (considering his age, his hitting abilities, his occasionally useful bowling and his nationality). I doubt CSK will even look at him.

I feel Glenn Maxwell would be a good choice for CSK to fill our overseas slot. Or as LiveLoveABD says, Moeen Ali. CSK is now inundated with too many openers (Ruturaj, Faf, Jagadeesan, Uthappa, Rayudu) and they sure should not fill the overseas slot with another opener. Its better to plug that middle-lower order with some big hitters.

Thanks for that Unadkat update. Maxwell also will be a hot pick. What's your view on Ben McDermott? He is a big hitter. He looks and bats like ABD. I don't know why they picked Robbie. I think, CSK will go for Cutting or Hasaranga.

CSK won't go for a player who's a one season wonder. I haven't followed earlier seasons of Big Bash or much of other leagues, but this is the first time I am hearing the name "Ben McDermott". CSK normally picks guys who've proven across seasons and have some solid and/or veteran experience. Ben McDermott looks unlikely to even be in CSK radar.

CSK cant go for Hasaranga (or for that matter, any Sri Lankan player) because it poses a significant political risk for CSK (Tamil Nadu fringe political parties will create a ruckus about not allowing a Sri Lankan player to play on Tamil Nadu soil) and either CSK's home games are moved out of Chepauk or CSK is forced to not play the concerned SL player in their home games. So its pointless to even pick a SL player.

Ben Cutting's bowling stats doesn't look that great. Almost 9 runs per over economy rate. Even in IPL, he never set the stage on fire at anytime. I doubt if CSK will go behind him.
