I think Ganguly will lead till the 2007 world cup after most of the seniors (Sachin, Sourav, Rahul, Anil if not already and Laxman) will retire or become just test players. It's going to be particularly difficult to lose Sachin but I guess he may have been hit by injuries or consistent bad form by then.

At that point Kaif, Yuvraj, Sehwag (more so than others) will have become senior members of the team. The impetus will clearly fall on these three to become captain, and Sehwag has already gone on record as saying that he would like to be India captain at some point in the future. So it's all up to hot debate. Who knows there may be some exciting youngster then that Sehwag doesn't have to blast off every time.

I think Sachin can carry on till the 2007 World Cup or may be some more time.. Same with Dravid. Ganguly has said almost the same team that is now for the ODI's would be there for the 2007 World Cup.

That is a far-fetched statement, though. 2 years is plenty of time for a new person to make his presence felt in the international level. The core of the team--Sachin, Sehwag, Sourav, Rahul, Irfan, Kumble, Harbhajan will stay mainly the same. But the other spots are still open. Yuvraj and Kaif may face competition from budding cricketers which means that they will have to perform consistently to stay in. This should raise the overall performance of the team.

Kaif and yuvraj singh is not performaing well with batting.Although they are good fielders but they are there to keep the middle order momentum going. If they did not succed doing that then i suggest indian selectors to search for some new leds that can led india to higher.

man either you are too immersed with your C2K4 and not watching intl cricket enough or there's some more serious problem...the fact is that Yuvi and Kaif have performed well in the recent past...esp. Kaif...the lone fighter in these recent significant blemishes in ODI's by India...

btw Zorax how come you've taken Mongia in consideration...he retired from all cricket about a month back..

I meant Dinesh Mongia............tho it is not too late for Nayan to come back.............

I think kaif is a must but we would still have some competition for yuvi's spot and laxmans spot is also wide open for wicket keeper or batsman who can keep

Uggh... Dinesh Mongia? ABout the only highlight of his career is that 140 odd he made against Zimbabwe. Since then I have one image of him. Coming in the 49th over and defending two balls right down the ground. Maybe I've exaggerated but oh well. Dot balls, of course.

Dinesh Mongia too cannot be in that poll just becoz he has not played enough intl cricket for India...he made that 153 in Jamshedpur against ZImbabwe and after that was selected for WC ahead of Lakkhu and perhaps saved India the blushes in the opening game against Holland but was ineffective after that...though lately he has been performing well in the county circuit - we are discussing Indian captaincy here..

I would go for rahul dravid and ya fardin don't say that yuvraj and kaif are not performing in batting i have seen his recent matches they were perfoming good in batting and abt yuvraj he also smashes alot in jubille then when india toured bangladesh.

I think you have illegal dish other wise you wont be stupid enough to pay 100 odd dollars to watch those indian matches.

So anyone who had Bangladesh vs India got it illegaly? I dont think so

Geez you make some bloody stupid remarks sometimes

squiz i was reffering to dish network it is a company that robbs people.

The only way vibs can watch cricket is through dish network and he has to pay 100 dollars to watch one cricket match and he has said that he has watched indian matches recently and i think that he had payed 100 odd dollars to watch them.Sachin reply back to my comments saying that i dont watch cricket that much yes i dont due to the ****ing dish not making the prizes low.

the dishnetwork are offering prizes after collecting 100 bucks from u guyz...thats cool...:p

man if you don't watch enough intl cricket then how do you start commenting on it? ignorance is a bliss when hidden properly...

You need to KNOW when and how to change the field, who to bowl, and all that other stuff.
On what basis can you say Dravid isn't good at it? Did you see the Multan test, played on a dead pitch, winning that one wasn't a fluke, what about Mumbai win? When Dravid hasn't been given equal chances compared to Sourav, what makes you say like that? Just imagination,...

Dravid - can be but i doubt if he would make a good captain. Captain needs aggression along with good mental thinking. He has the second but seems to lack the first (he makes a good vice captain along with Ganguly as the first and the second mingle!)
Very creative there,..."seems to lack the first".

I will like Dravid to be captain from tomorrow onwards itself.
Next, we should have a lot of changes, Sehwag first,Kaif next,Yuvi next,... But, if anyone does a good job he should have a stay, but only until team plays well. I don't like the idea of the same captain serving for too long a time.
