It's interesting to see Bevan as the coach! He has been a brilliant match winner for his team as a batsman.. lets see whether he acquires a new match winner role as a coach.

The most important base in the stories is storyline which I feel, you have got it.. Just keep it going.. and I predict a very fabulous/fantastic story in the future soon. Keep it up!

Full Squads

The moment that everyone has been waiting for is just few days away now. The 16 man squad for the 20-20 series was announced but ICC wanted the squad to be of 20 players. Therefore both sides added furthur four players to the squad.

For IPL Shane Warne opted for Cameroon White, Brandon McCullum, Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh. He said that due to tournament being played in India he opted for Cameroon White and Harbhajan Singh. Brandon McCullum was selected on merit of his performances in international cricket recently and Virender Sehwag for his explosive batting as he knows subcontinent conditions well than most other players in squad. It however reamins to be seen as to how Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds will react on sharing same dressing room.

For ICL Paul Collingwood opted for Dwayne Bravo, Dinesh Mongia, Ian Bell and Shaun Tait. He had no hesitation in selecting Shaun Tait as he had just signed contract with ICL and Paul Collingwood was happy that now he will have attack to rattle the opposition with Shane Bond already in side. To look for opening positions Dinesh Mongia and Ian Bell were considered while Dwayne Bravo will accompany other all rounders in the side.

Wow.. fantastic! Harbhajan and Symonds playing in same team... But when comes to the team, they had to play without any personal conflicts. Lets see what they do and how it turns up as.

Today the practice game between the IPL and ICL side is going to take place. The IPL side suffered blow before first bowl was even bowled with their captain Shane Warne getting a freak fingure injury while catching practice. Although the injury is not serious but to be on safer side he decided not to play today. Also crowd favourite and local player Yuvraj Singh had not recovered from the flu. Therefore MS Dhoni was drafted into side and he will Captain the IPL side.

ICL on the other hand had no fitness problems and opted to put forward their best side. Paul Collingwood stressed that his side wanted full match practice and wanted its players to adjust to subcontinent conditions.

Following are the sides for the first practice game.

The match is being played at PCA Stadium Mohali. Mohali pitch is the fastest pitch in India and hence both sides have opted to play with predominant pace attack with spin coming from part time spinners.

Pith and Weather Report: The pitch is hard and will be very good for batting. Since this is 20-20 game the pitch will not break much and hence spinners will not be factor in this game. The game will start at 7:00 PM in evening and hence players can expect pleasant playing conditions.

Toss: ICL won the toss and Paul Collingwood had little hesitation in batting first. He said that he will be looking for a target around 180 runs for strong IPL batting lineup. MS Dhoni did not looked much disturbed after loosing toss. He said that he has hardly won tosses and would have been amazed if he had won it. He wanted to restrict ICL to around score of 160 runs.

Brad Haddin Show:

ICL opened the innings with Brad Haddin and Ian Bell. Ian Bell was looking solid and played some crisp shots meanwhile Brad Haddin after some few sighting deliveries started to play aggressive shots to both opening bowlers of IPL Bret Lee and Irfan Pathan. The pair put on 30 runs in just 3 overs before Ian Bell was caught brilliantly at square leg by Cameroon White off Irfan Pathan. Pathan soon striked in his next over removing Mohammad Yousuf for just 1 run.

Even though run rate was good ICL team had lost 2 quick wickets. Next man in Kevin Pietersen looked at ease from first ball. He was in devastating form and was extremely severe on rookie pace bowler Ishant Sharma hitting him for 2 sixex in his first over. But soon Sharma had last laugh when Pietersen was caught at boundary by Herscelle Gibbs when the batsman was trying to hit third six in the over.

Michael Clarke walked in next and kept scoring at just one run per ball with some quick running between the wicket with Brad Haddin. In meantime Haddin opened his shoulders and hit Shahid Afridi for 16 runs in one over. The pair put on 60 runs partnership in quick time and Brad Haddin completed his 50 between that.

The ICL score was looking to be headed for 180+ runs but then IPL started to pick up cheap wickets. Andrew Symonds and Cameroon White picked up 5 wickets between them for 28 runs in last 4 overs. ICL finished their innings at 170 runs but could have scored more runs had they not lost wickets in hurry.

Following is the scorecard of the first innings and this promises to be a very good chase for IPL. With pitch not changing character much IPL should be confident to overhaul the ICL score. Meanwhile ICL will be hoping that its pace battery will win them easily.

Nice batting by ICL. Haddin killed IPL! Good bowling by Symo, although all the bowlers were too expensive!
