Story Jake's English tour to Australia

Just to clear it up it is his off stump being taken out of the ground. You can see the hole and the microphone where the off stump would be. It's just the angle the sump has gone off you would assume it's leg. On another point, I don't think Ashley Giles would be knocking people's stumps out ;)

Jake McDonald: Welcome to the final session of the first day, Australia have been scoring at a rapid pace, on track for 350 here if they don’t love wickets. Hussey is looking for a ton, and Haddin is yet to score. Here we go...

60.5 – Hoggard to Hussey – OUT! – Hoggard pitches it up on Hussey’s legs, and Hussey flicks to square leg in the air, where Harmison dives forward and takes the catch. Australia are in trouble at 6/259, and the tail are in now. Haddin needs to steer them to 300 and then build from there.

62.3 – Hoggard to Hauritz – RUN OUT! – Hoggard bowls a standard good length delivery, Hauritz pushes it to the off side, and doesn’t get onto it well. It went straight to point, where the fieldsman had a shot, which was a direct hit, and Hauritz was gone. Australia need to post 300 now, but that will be a struggle, with 35 runs left, and 3 wickets in hand, and Hoggard on fire.

64.2 – Hoggard to Haddin – OUT! – Hoggard pitches it up a little on off stump, Haddin goes for a massive slog, which he misses and is bowled. Hoggard is in with a chance of getting a 5fa here, he needs the remaining two wickets. Clark joins Lee, with Hilfenhaus left.

64.4 – Hoggard to Clark –OUT! – Clark walks right across his stumps to protect them, and Hoggard aims at his legs. On middle and leg stump Clark sticks the bat there, and it comes flying off an edge to gully! One wicket left, and Hilfenhaus comes out to join Lee. Australia 9/275, with over an hour left in the day’s play.

65.1 – Plunkett to Lee – OUT! – Lee knew they had no chance, and just went for a massive cover drive, in the air, which ended in the hands of Ian Bell at point. Disappointing last session for Australia, losing 5/32, they really should have been pushing for 300 and above. They really need to perform with the ball here.

Jake McDonald:
We will be back with you shortly for the start of England’s innings.
Welcome to the resumption of play, England are trailing by 275 runs, with around an hour and a half left in the first day. Australia will be looking to capture a couple of quick wickets, or they will be on the back foot for the rest of this test match.

Australia are using a very defensive field here, with only two slips and an off side field for Brett Lee. He is swinging it a mile and cranking it up to in excess of 150 kilometres.

2.5 – Lee to Trescothick – No ball – Searing pace from Brett Lee there, 158 kilometres per hour!

Not putting pictures up, loaded EVERY ONE OF THEM and pressed refresh instead of favourites, so not doing it again.

Starting up again in 10. :D

11.3 - Clark to Trescothick - OUT! - Clark bowls a bouncer and Trescothick tries to hook, only to see the ball go down Hauritz's throat at short fine leg.

Trescothick trudges off after being dismissed for 17.

Stumps day 1
Australia 275
Hussey 56
Hoggard 4/82
Plunkett 4/101
England 1/37
Strauss 17*
Trescothick 17

Jake McDonald: Poor performance from Australia on day 1. All failed with the bat bar Hussey and to an extent, Jaques. Bowling has been inconsistent, and they didn't deserve the one wicket they got. England really need to put the foot on the Australian's chest tomorrow by posting a score over 300. Australia need to bowl out England as soon as possible and try to post a big score with the bat. Join us tomorrow at the same time for the resumption on play on the second day of the first test. It's Jake McDonald here signing off. Goodbye from the Gabba.

Jakester1288 added 9 Minutes and 49 Seconds later...

16.4 - Hilfenhaus to Strauss - OUT! - Once again, a pull shot goes to Hauritz. Both openers bowled the same ball, caught by the same fielder. The only difference was the bowler.

Jakester1288 added 3 Minutes and 31 Seconds later...

16.6 - Hilfenhaus to Bell - OUT! Once again, a bouncer picks up a wicket, again to Hauritz! England have fell from 1/37 to 3/41. They need to get it together here.

Jakester1288 added 5 Minutes and 52 Seconds later...

16.4 - Lee to Pietersen - OUT! Lee is brought on for Hilfenhaus, and once again bowls a bouncer and picks up a wicket, to Hauritz! 4 wickets, all Hauritz's catches, all off bouncers! Hauritz isn't even looking like getting a bowl here!

Nathan Spinks: England are going to need to left their performance here, Australia have turned the match quite well. Need someone to step up with a half century here, then build on that. I thought it was going to be Pietersen, but that was not to be.

16.5 - Lee to Flintoff - OUT! Have a guess how he got out? To ANOTHER BOUNCER! The Poms cant resist themselves, and Hauritz bags his 5th catch of the innings!

Jake McDonald: Australia will be looking to bowl out England for under 200, they have them on the back foot at 5/46, Lee and Hilfenhaus have 2 wickets each, and Clark one as well.

Jakester1288 added 5 Minutes and 55 Seconds later...

24.1 - Lee to Jones - OUT! - Lee bowls a reverse, inswinging yorker and Jones offers no shot, to see the ball crash into middle and off stump.

A failure for Geraint Jones as he falls for a duck

Australia into the tail now, Giles walking to the crease.

Jakester1288 added 12 Minutes and 18 Seconds later...

29.4 - Hauritz to Giles - OUT! - Hauritz persists with line and length, and gets the wicket. Just when Giles was starting to get into the groove with Vaughn, and looking like forming a partnership, he loses his wicket. 7/57.

Jakester1288 added 2 Minutes and 29 Seconds later...

29.6 - Hauritz to Plunkett - OUT! - Hauritz bowls a ball spinning to leg stump, Plunkett gets a big step forward, and unluckily gets an inside edge to batpad. Gone second ball, England 8/57 and in big trouble here. Still over 200 runs behind the Aussies, will they follow on?

Jakester1288 added 31 Minutes and 7 Seconds later...

Match state: Lunch on the second day.
England 8/74
Vaughn 21*
Hoggard 6*

Jake McDonald: Hoggard and Vaughn are putting together a handy little partnership here, the Australian bowlers can't get them, Vaughn moves to a snail paced 21 off 91 balls, the equal highest score, and Hoggard has a handy 6 off 25 balls, getting singles and putting Vaughn back on strike. These two are frustrating the Australian bowlers.

We will join you after lunch.

47.5 - Hauritz to Hoggard - OUT! - Clean bowled him, and Hauritz picks up his 3rd. England 9/84.

Jakester1288 added 11 Minutes and 16 Seconds later...

51.5 - Hauritz to Vaughn - OUT! - Hauritz gets his 4th wicket, and suceeds in cleaning up the tail. Vaughn's resistance comes to an end, as he departs for 23 off a mammoth 114 balls.

England 92 all out
Vaughn 23
Strauss 21
Trescothick 17
Hauritz 4/12
Lee 3/37
Hilfenhaus 2/26

Join us for the resumption of Australia's innings shortly.

Jakester1288 added 10 Minutes and 34 Seconds later...

2.5 - Harmison to Hayden - OUT! - Half Volley on off stump gets through Hayden, attempting to dive, and hits off stump. Gone, Harmison gets his first, and after a flurry of boundaries, Hayden is gone for 16 off 17 balls, and Australia are 1/22.

Jakester1288 added 4 Minutes and 2 Seconds later...

3.6 - Hoggard to Jaques - OUT! - Good comeback from England, taking the openers in the first 4 overs. Jaques gets out in a similar fashion to Hayden, driving and the ball takes out off. This one cut back in a little bit, rather than Haydens straight ball, bad batting from Australia, 2/27.

The lone half century maker in the first innings, Hussey, comes to the crease.

Jakester1288 added 15 Minutes and 30 Seconds later...

13.1 - Giles to Hussey - OUT! - Clean bowled, trying to sweep a ball outside off stump. Crazy shot. Australia 3/46, leading by 229, must be looking to use this partnership to get the score above 100 and the lead above 300. Ponting is looking good, despite playing some streaky shots.

Jakester1288 added 7 Minutes and 35 Seconds later...

Match state: Tea
Australia 3/51
Ponting 18*
Clarke 0*
Harmison 1/39
Hoggard 1/10
Giles 1/0

Jake McDonald: Extraodinary bowling from Giles has seen him bowl 5 overs, conceding no runs and picking up the wicket of Hussey. Join us in 20 minutes time.

A lead of over 300 should be enough for Australia to defend.

18.3 - Plunkett to Clarke - OUT! - Bit wide of off stump, Clarke advances and plays a square drive in the air right down points throat. He is gone for 4 and Australia are reeling at 4/56.

Jakester1288 added 12 Minutes and 43 Seconds later...

Jake McDonald: 50 up for Ricky Ponting, he has been attacking the bowlers with the drive since tea, and it has payed off. A few bad shots, including the one to bring up his 50, in the air just wide of cover, an edge and a few plays and misses, otherwise good innings.

26.4 - Plunkett to Ponting - OUT! - Plunkett picks up his second with a half volley on middle and leg, somehow it goes straight through a Ponting drive and ends his innings on 50.

Jakester1288 added 12 Minutes and 42 Seconds later...

30.5 - Harmison to Symonds - OUT! - Big wicket there! A very full ball on off stump from Harmison, Symonds attempts to cover drive it into the vacant gap, and gets the outside edge to the keeper. Symonds quickfire 22 off 29 deliveries comes to an end.

Jakester1288 added 9 Minutes and 56 Seconds later...

33.4 - Flintoff to Haddin - OUT! - Ball on Haddins middle stump, Haddin tries to work it away to the leg side, and pops it up to square leg. Haddin is gone for 32, off an amazingly quick 27 balls including 5 fours and a six.

Flintoff and his England side celebrate finishing off the top order

Jakester1288 added 4 Minutes and 16 Seconds later...

33.5 - Flintoff to Lee - OUT! - Flintoff bowls on off stump, Lee flicks it to the leg side, very fine. Not watching where the ball goes, he calls Hauritz through for a single. After taking several steps down the pitch, Hauritz sends him back, because first slip backed up the keeper. The keeper runs towards the stumps, catches the ball, and takes off the bails, executing the run out. Australia are 8/152, leading by 335.

Ponting seemed pretty happy to reach his 50 :D

Australia should still win.

Sorry guys, I just can't finish this off.

I am starting a new story shortly, and it should be much better storyline, and presentation, although it won't have any pictures at all.
