In season 13, Jake McDonald took over a local NSW cricket club. Sitting in the lowest division, a squad he described as 'piss poor', and under poor management, the team was under performing, and on the brink of bankruptcy. McDonald put some pieces of the puzzle together, working on some players from the youth academy, and buying some new players. He went into debt, near being bankrupt, before he had even completed his first season. Now, things are starting to look bright for the future. The squads average age is just 23. There is some good young players, as well as some old experienced men.

In season 14, only Jakes second season working with the club, they were bailed out of the Cup in only the second round, but then finished the season undefeated in OD, promoting to division 5 for season 15, a fairly distant second in the FC competition, closely ahead of 3rd, a good result in the end, and then 7th in the BT20 competition, which was used as a resting ground for the main FC competition.

"Last season was amazing progress from our first season" said coach McDonald. "The work the boys put in was inspiring, and the results came on the field. Now we are promoting to div 5 in the one day format, that will be extremely tough up there. But if the boys keep working hard, we will be able to get the results. Just today we have given a full squad contract to 17 year old allrounder Karl Hirst, who is the youngest in the team, and despite lacking consistency and concentration, we expect great things from him in the future. Watch out for him, if he works hard enough, he could be anything."

Today is the first day of season 15, welcome to the ride.

Killers upgrade ground, put up Mccarthy for sale, and look towards the Cup

Today Killers CC Management has decided to upgrade their ground, just ahead of the first game of season 2015. McDonald announced that they would be adding 500 standing room, covered, and uncovered seats, plus 50 new members seats, totaling ?60,000 work of work, set to be completed on the 15th, just 2 days before the start of the cup. The club has been reportedly down to ?130000, after some buys, hiring of nets, and coaches, and the ?60000 has to be drawn out of that, leaving the Killers a bit tight on budget. "We've never managed our budget well, we have a bit of drawback money at the moment, but otherwise we are trying to save up a bigger total, then have enough for regular purchases and upgrades," Manager McDonald said.

Today, with Hirst joining the club as an allrounder, his senior fellow allrounder, and experienced man, was put up onto the transfer market with a starting price of ?0. "Mccarthy was a good player for our club, but at 34, his fitness decreasing, we need to get a younger alternative. We have found that in Hirst, who could be playing first XI cricket as early as the conclusion of this season. Hopefully Mccarthy can carry on his career at another club, who needs him more. Whilst his records weren't amazing, he was a very solid player, and a good clubman."

Suddenly the attention turned to the cup, starting in just over a week. "Ah mate, we haven't even been thinking about that, just training and looking to buy a few new recruits, but it's time to start turning our attention to it. We will probably have a dusty pitch if it's at our home, helping Fills, or a batting wicket. Depending on the opposition and conditions, our team may change, but there will be a strong team put out. We are aiming for round 5, after bailing out at round 2 last year."

Well good start to this Jake. You have a pretty nice squad there compared to when you only had the med/med's as your best players a few months back, haha. Anyway, hopefully you can go alright up in Div 5. I was relegated the first season I was up there but I'm back up there again.

Killers CC - In debt?

There have been rumors floating around that Killers Cricket Club management have run themselves into debt, in a bid to buy a new player from the transfer market, ahead of the 2015 season commencement. Our reports are it is 20 year old Jermain Joyce, a young West Indian spinner, who has shown a lot of potential, but not dominated opponents, yet. We caught up with up with him outside his family home.

Mr McDonald, is it true you've bought a new player for Killers CC?

Yeah, it is, but where did you get that information from?

Nevermind about that. Has this alleged player taken Killers CC Finances into the red?

Yes, but only slightly. We felt having a second spinner to work with Fillery could be valuable if the quicks didn't work, especially against the stronger batsmen from up divisions in future seasons, when and if we promote in first class.

How much are you in debt?

Mate we only expect to be about 20 grand in debt, we should make that back in a game. It's nothing to worry about.

How much did you actually pay for him?

200 grand, perhaps a bit overpriced, but we are hoping he will repay us with great success at the club.

Thank's for your time.

Sure. Anytime.

So there we have it. Killers CC manager Jake McDonald has confirmed the purchase of 20 year old, right arm spinner, Jermain Joyce, from the West Indies.

Jermain is a RH Batsman and RH Spin Bowler. He is a destructive player with woeful leadership skills and feeble experience.

He currently has superb batting form, superb bowling form and fresh fitness.
Plays For: Killers CC
Nationality: West Indies
Age: 20 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 7,130
Wages: ?1,098 p/w
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: abysmal Concentration: woeful
Bowling: proficient Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: abysmal

A good buy there. He looks to me like he's got the potential, just needs some match experience to prove himself. Liked that interview, good going! :)

Nice buy there. Only probably is that his stamina and concentration is a bit low but a fielding and a stamina net can easily fix that. Wouldn't say overpriced though.

If the age was 18 or 19 then it would have been better.

Cup preview - Killers CC v mtrix

Tomorrow, Killers CC are taking on mtrix, at home, in the first round of the cup. Both teams will be hoping to advance on to round 2, but only 1 team can. The Killers are strong, strong favorites, and despite them not playing their strongest team, are expected to walk all over mtrix, and get it over and done with quickly.

The team
1. Gill
2. Raisani
3. Breen
4. Carless
5. Mcclaren
6. Hirst
7. Adri
8. Kay
9. Wotton
10. Marcel
11. Wilks

We couldn't catch up with the manager, McDonald, before this match, so to fill the space, we will inform you of Killers CC's opponents this season.

First class league
Caprica FC
Boothys Bogans
YVCA
Drewan Giants
Brookfield Fury

Another season spent in this division, and another one after this is expected too. Caprica FC, after being demoted, will thrash all opposition, including the Killers, with their supreme skill.

Predicted finish: 2nd

One day league:
davos mean machine
Team Stoney
The Hell Blazers
soccerrules
Bellambi University
world champs 45
korora primary

The only teams we can beat are Bellambi University, real life friend korora primary, and possibly world champs 45. The other 4 teams will walk all over us, we can avoid demotion, but maybe it's not worth it.

I would attempt to avoid relegation. You're doing your team no good going back down again.

Nice work mate, good luck in the cup.

Killers record comfortable win in Cup, and recruit new player

Killers CC have recorded a 10 wicket win in their first game of the season, getting them off to a great start in their Cup campaign.

After the Killers won the toss and elected to field, Kay starred with the ball, taking a magnificant 5-23 off only 7 overs, as the visitors were bundled out for just 112, in 34 overs. Some great Killers bowling, following the line and length plans perfectly, saw every bowler get a wicket, in a destructive display. For the visitors, only Dlomo (33 off 36) could provide consistent runs, with Sainsbury and Jones the only other two to crack double figures. New recruit, Woozley, was rushed into the side for this match, taking a solid 1/18 off 6, and keeper Carless was clean behind the stumps, taking 4 catches and a stumping.

mtrixinningsq.jpg

With the bat, Raisani and Gill powered along, having no trouble surpassing mtrix's score, with the openers still in the middle. Raisani was solid, and quick, scoring 59 off 59, where Gill provided a tad more entertainment, 52 off 49, including the only 6 of the innings. The best of the bowlers for the opposition was Howland, 0/18 off 5, quite a dire performance from them.

Killers CC have now advanced on to round 2 of the Cup, lets all get behind them, as they will be taking on Mildura centre plaza CC, who hopefully they can record another convincing win against.

Willy Woozley (the new recruit) - 19 yo, BT Rating=3,591
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler. He is a defensive player with superb leadership skills and abysmal experience.
He currently has woeful batting form, competent bowling form and sublime fitness.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: competent Concentration: worthless
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: worthless

FC lineup
1. Spillane
2. Vidale
3. Mulvaney
4. Reeves
5. Tembo
6. Francois +
7. Wotton
8. Fillery (c)
9. Adri
10. Joyce
11. Bignot

The Killers are going full strength, the line up consisting on 5 batsmen, a wicketkeeper, 3 pace bowlers, then 2 spinners. We aren't expecting much from our boys, but hoping we can show some good signs. If we can win this, we can win the competition.

Pops

The only pop this week, 17yo trainee Karl Hirst.

Karl Hirst - 17 yo, BT Rating=2,801
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler. He is a steady player with feeble leadership skills and worthless experience.
He currently has competent batting form, mediocre bowling form and moderate fitness.
Stamina: abysmal Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: competent Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: abysmal
Fielding: worthless

Sorry for the update being too long, but each part too short, but I had to fit it all into the one update, hope it goes alright.

Killers play the TM

Killers CC have played the TM well, picking up a fine 17 year old batsmen from New Zealand, and a 32 year old allrounder from Australia. These two players fill the gaps, as Killers need a young batsmen to become their future star, and have been lacking an allrounder, after selling both in the off season. They have also sent 17 year old allrounder Karl Hirst onto the transfer market, no longer needed with the new allrounder purchase, and batsmen. Jon Tembo was also added. They are rumored to be chasing another pacer, but we have no conformation on this yet.

The new recruits:

Edward Mchugh - 17 yo, BT Rating=3,141
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler. He is a destructive player with worthless leadership skills and worthless experience.
He currently has respectable batting form, respectable bowling form and energetic fitness.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: competent Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: worthless Consistency: worthless
Fielding: worthless

Martin Robbins - 32 yo, BT Rating=9,092
RH Batsman, RF Bowler. He is a destructive player with strong leadership skills and remarkable experience.
He currently has proficient batting form, competent bowling form and energetic fitness.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: mediocre Concentration: competent
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: proficient
Fielding: mediocre

Ted Al - 17 yo, BT Rating=2,865
LH Batsman, LM Bowler. He is a steady player with feeble leadership skills and abysmal experience.
He currently has respectable batting form, respectable bowling form and lively fitness.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: worthless Concentration: worthless
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: worthless

"These two definitely have a future within this club. Mchugh will be one of the batsmen of the future, he definitely has the potential, while Robbins, only a short term player, needs to make an impact, as he will be holding down the number 7 spot, looking to get through some overs in fc, and his allotted 10 in OD too." Manager McDonald said. "Hopefully both players can have success, in the long and short term, as both will be crucial to our success. Hirsty was a tough one, we no longer require him, might as well let him go to a place where he is more needed, and make some money if possible. Jon, well, his decision was easy, really. He's a bit old, and he's just not fit enough for this level. We are also chasing another pace bowler, his name is Ted Al, hopefully he can join us."

One day team v korora primary
1. David Spillane
2. Mike Vidale
3. Greg Mulvaney
4. Jon Tembo
5. Pete Reeves
6. Jim Francois +
7. Martin Robbins
8. Alfie Fillery
9. Jermain Joyce
10. Benjamin Adri
11. Barry Bignot
