Couple of quick questions.

I have got this new bat and since the season does not start until April should i knock it in straight away or wait until near the start of the season?

Also after oiling the bat do i wait for the oil to dry before knocking it in and if so how long?

Thank you!

Wait at least 24-48 hours for the oil to seep into the willow. Also knock it in as soon as you can, I usually do it while im watching TV (much to the annoyance of my roommates)

Here's one useful tip I know of. You know how much a bat needs knocking if you press your fingernail into the blade of the bat. If it digs in deep, you still need to knock it in even more, whereas if ti doesn't leave a dent, then you're just about fine. It checks how compressed that part of the wood is.

Well this isn't the right thread, but me and my dad took 3 straining hours trying to replace a bat's grip using the caveman tools we had available.

lol, it takes like 3mins max, if you know how to do it properly with your hands.

i bet by the time you were finished the grip was torn? :laugh

anyway i wouldn't knock the bat in myself if i didn't know what i was doing tbh.

Well most of that time we spent giving it the stare :laugh

TumTum added 4 Minutes and 50 Seconds later...

We ended up putting the new grip onto a broom handle, then rolled it up till it reached the cap of the handle. Then we removed the cap and put it on top of the bat handle and unrolled. Genius :D

LOL I am seeing 2 caveman with long hippie hair and everything, itching their head, trying to figure this ████ out

If you're arms aren't tired and the sun hasn't gone down (provided you started in the morning), you haven't done it for long enough....
