Man D Hit by Sudden Retirements!
Skater, Jaz say goodbye, WHM unlikely to feature!
Man D's title hunt in the PCPL's third season have taken a serious blow as recent news has surfaced that Jaz and Skater have declared their retirements from the current season of the PCPL. And while Skater had hinted that he may return for PCPL 4, Jaz has turned down any chances of a comeback, stating his intentions to run a small county pub.
These retirements come as a sudden shock to a side looking to re-build after a shambolic second season, where controversies and scandals caused a championship winning side to crumble with 5 consecutive losses at the start of the season and forced them to fall to the (now non-existent) second division.
And after this season started on a bright note -former HH owner Dr. Pepper signed in as a part-owner of the squad, and veteran batsman KBC was picked up in the draft- these retirements are sure to come as a big blow. Jaz and Skater were the two stand out performers in a lack-luster season, and their departure leaves a heavy burden on the remaining squad. The transfer of last season's VC GiggityGiggty, and the failure for Man D to sign on three players they had their eyes on -Sid, KX and Therbs- means that Man D heads into this season with their thinnest squad yet.
Seam bowler WHM has also reported to be unsure about his availability for the coming season, and has yet to sign the contract offered to him, stating that he has no interest in the coming season. And while his future is being debated, Jaz's future has been known for quite a while, and while Jaz did initially hope to spice up his career (not that he needed to) by moving to another team, he has since shot down those ideas and has privately announced a full out retirement. Skater decided to pull out of this edition of the PCPL just recently stating 'personal issues', but is eager to return to the side for next season. He has also donated much of his match fees to Man D's transfer budget, and is willing to pop by whenever he can to give the rest of the bowling attack some tips and to liven up the dressing room.
Man D's newest elected captain and vc -Amiya and Covvy- were un-available for comments, while senior players Harris, Arslaan, Pak Cricketer, RoboRocks and KBC could not be reached. Zorax, however, was present at the press release, and spoke on the behalf of his fellow owners, stating that the retirements were 'A huge blow', but he was certain that 'the rest of the team is eager and energised' and 'ready to take on the additional responsibilities needed for them'.
When asked of the team's goals for this season, Zorax said he was 'cautiously optimistic' and felt that his increased role in the running of the PCPL would not deter him from his duties, nor would hinder his involvement with the side on and off the pitch.
He also stated that the rest of the squad and the remaining team members were 'free to comment as they wish, Man D chooses not to exercise any control over what the players want to say or do, as long as they perform on the field'
