This thread is very inefficient so I have a plan...

If you have batsman information by all means post it.

BUT...

We are going to have a batsman (from my list) for a day (or more) and 10 ppl will hopefully post overall ratings (any rating 3 more or less than others will be ignored and an average will be taken). These imo are the most important ones:

ODI/10
Test/10
Attack/10
Defense/10
Lofting/10
Form stability/10

For today and the whole of 2mrw the batsman will be TRESCOTHICK

Id say stabily at 7 as well, he's pretty consistent, as batsmen go.

To clarify further form stability 10/10 means he is always on top form which is for noone. This isnt directed at Freddiefan cos he said 7/10 not 10/10

I think you need a benchmark set for ratings, because in my opinion Trescothick whilst a quality batsman is being ranked a little too highly here. For example if say Bradman was 10/10 for everything, then someone like Lara or Tendulkar was a 9/10 for nearly everything, so someone like Ponting would be around 8/10 for everything, making Trescothick more around 7/10 for tests, Odis and attack and then defence would be around 5 or 6/10.

Leading all the way down to say someone like Monty Panesar who would be around 1/10. So you have to get the scale right instead of following the standard mistake when rating out of 10 in which nearly everyone is rated from 7-10 leaving the 1-6 as almost useless.
