2nd Bottom of division 2 of the County Championship
Out of T20 Cup in Group Stage
Top-Half of Pro40 Division 2

Middlesex are going through their toughest time yet, after winning the T20 Cup in 2008, Middlesex have really slipped. In fact, their best performance was in the Pro40, in which they still looked like a mediocre team.

Now, Middlesex are looking to turn things round, after the ECB announced plans to allow more International cricketers into the County set-up, Middlesex have set about signing the best of the best.

Rumours of signing the Deccan Chargers Star Adam Gilchrist have been rife, and with the ability and cash to sign up to 5 Internationals, Jonathan Agnew has been quoted as saying that, 'Middlesex have the ability and financial power to rise back to the top'.

well, my predictions are that they might have a okish season in the first year, but, don't expect me to win every game.

Gilly? Wow! Suddenly really nice move dude.
Will Really make story interesting. I hope you don't leave this story in a mid-way.
Best of luck looking forward to this.

although middlesex have signed gilchrist, I tried to spread the best out as evenly as possible, so not giving middlesex the best players.

Speaking at the announcement, new signing Adam Gilchrist was pleased and delighted that Middlesex have agreed sponsorship deals with Adidas and Vodafone.
'Obviously it is great news, the team will look great in the new kit, and with the added financial income, maybe more signings will arrive over the next few years.'

Gilchrist also added that he was at Middlesex 'for the long haul', which Angus Fraser, the managing director of Middlesex CCC has hailed as 'great news'. Another player eager to show their potential this season who was at the announcement was Phil Hughes, the Australian opener, who was spotted in the nets with Tyron Henderson, who was busy practising his bowling ahead of the upcoming County Season.

Tomorrow, the ECB are set to announce the Summers fixtures, and Middlesex are launching their new Adidas branded kits for the new season. [/CENTER]

Numerous matches this season will test the strength of every county to the maximum, A long FC Championship, lasting from April 20th to September 20th, a rather quick Twenty20 Cup which will be over in just under 3 weeks. The ECB has announced that it will scrap the idea of dividing the T20 into 3 regional groups, and has made it a national Group A, B and C tournament. The same has happened with the 50-Over tournament, which has been put into Divisions 1+2.
Andrew Strauss was at the announcement, and the England and Middlesex opener was happy to see that he would play more county cricket this year as it was being mostly shaped around the International summer, and that he would only miss the Twenty20 Cup, because of the 2 Test Series against Bangladesh, he was quoted as saying, 'It's great news, most of the past seasons, i have played in the first 2 games, and then been shipped of on a busy International Summer'.

All this ahead of the unveiling of Middlesex's 2010 FC and OD kits at Lords later on today.

Middlesex Launch 2010 Adidas Kits

The new Adidas Middlesex FC and OD kits have been launched at Lords today, with new sponsor Vodafone appearing on a Middlesex shirt for the first time.

Speaking at the launch, Tyron Henderson was interviewed, and he is rather pleased to see that Middlesex have kept him for the upcoming season, even though they had the money to bring in a better player than him, he said that it shows real loyalty and he wants to repay the club by helping them to gain promotion to Division 1 of the Championship. Another figure who was at the launch was Subramaniam Badrinath, who is another of Middlesex's new signings for the season which begins with Middlesex playing Leicestershire in the C&G Trophy on Friday. He said that he can't wait to get out there, even though he is more known for his excellent performances in the IPL, he wants to prove himself as a natural cricketer who can play in both Test's and One-day games as he pushes for a permanant place in the Indian national team.

Well, that's all for now, but we'll be back tomorrow with the first game of Middlesex's season in the C&G trophy away against Leicestershire.

Middlesex Fail To Deliver In The 1st Innings

1stinnings.gif

Huge dissapointment in the Middlesex dressing room, Andrew Strauss won the toss on a good batting pitch and chose to bat, however, as soon as the openers Gilchrist and Strauss walked out, the cloud came over, and so came the wind. The swing from the opening bowlers was near impossible, which is probably why Adam Gilchrist fell for a duck. However, Strauss and Hughes had other ideas and began to settle down, but unfotunately, it couldn't last for ever, and Strauss was the next to go with the score at 49/2, which became 50/3 a couple of deliveries later, Owais Shah, batting at 4, decided to attempt to hit his 3rd ball for a six, failed, and holed out to the man at mid-wicket.
Badrinath went for 14, and the rest of the middle order collapsed within a devastating spell of bowling between Iain O'Brien and Claude Henderson. In fact, the middle order made only 20 runs between them, mainly down to Badrinath's 14. Middlesex will have to practice on their batting to improve on this disaster.
A bright moment in the innings, was Phil Hughes, who went to 50, and was pretty much the whole reason why Middlesex scored over 100. He eventually fell for 57, after pushing his luck too far and eventually having his middle stump removed.
Ajantha Mendis, another of Middlesex's international signings, came in and had an entertaining brief innings, in which he lead the lower order attack against the Leicestershire bowlers, until he ran out of partners due to Claude Hendersons 4 fer.

Middlesex were eventually all out for 126 from 31 overs, and this should be an easy target for Leicestershire to chase down.

Stay tuned for the second innings highlights coming soon.

126 is really a low score.
They will have to bowl exceptionally well to make a match of this.
Nice Highlights,something new.
