her's a small info
or the first time, players can play a real-time strategy game where the map is not a static checkerboard or series of choke points that plays the same way every time. We have created dynamic and destructible battlefields where players can alter any part of the landscape to fit their strategic play style. Destroying a bunch of cover objects will deny the enemy the use of that cover, but conversely will also deny you that same cover. Take out a church and you've eliminated a possible sniper nest that could be used by you or the enemy. Drop in some off-map artillery, and now you've not only taken out whatever was unlucky enough to be under the bombardment, but you've also created some new cover in the form of craters. Every object in the world has properties that the soldiers in the game are aware of. They know how to use these objects effectively for cover, and will do so without requiring micromanagement from the player, leaving the player to focus on the bigger picture.

and look at some screens.

That looks like a stunning game. Well the best recent role playing I've seen is Obilvion for the XBox 360 which got a rating of 9.6 from GameSpot.
It just depends if you are into 'World Wars' when considering to buy The Company of Heroes. Good thread.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Genere: Multiplayer (online-only multiplayer shooter) FPS
release date:Q3 2006

Link gamespot link

lookin forward to it:It's ID 's game man!

here's a small info:

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will be an online-only multiplayer shooter that will actually take place just before the beginning of Quake II (when the warlike aliens known as the strogg had invaded the Earth). Quake Wars will take place during the initial invasion and will pit two teams against each other: the strogg and a united group of human soldiers known as Earth Defense Force (or EDF, for short). The EDF will be armed with fairly conventional weaponry, like assault rifles and grenade launchers, as well as four-wheeled jeep-class vehicles and tanks. The strogg will possess alien weaponry, and they'll be divided into totally different character classes. And yes, by the way, we did say vehicles.

Many of the missions in Quake Wars will take place in huge outdoor areas in which the fastest mode of transport will be in a vehicle, and thanks to reworked physics that have been appropriated in part from the Doom III engine, vehicles will handle and deform realistically (we watched a demonstration as part of a promotional trailer that showed a jeep skidding off the side of a road, only to have its tires shot off a moment later). And yes, some parts of Doom III technology are being used for Quake Wars. But we can say with complete certainty that Quake Wars does not look like Doom III. This is due at least in part to the huge and surprisingly detailed outdoor areas that are possible, thanks to an all-new "megatexture" mapping technology developed by id Software programming guru John Carmack. The megatexture is essentially one huge, continuous texture map that can stretch all the way to the horizon, without any need for fog or other effects to mask a limited draw distance or texture tiles that repeat and show seams at the edges.

When asked about what kind of game modes Quake Wars would have, Cloud offered that the concept of game modes didn't really apply, since each of the game's missions will play out very differently. Some missions will be night-ops missions that will involve tense, close-quarters battles augmented by the way the game will realistically model the physical properties of objects (walking on steel-plated floors will be noisier than walking on grass, for instance). However, in all missions, players will be rewarded not only for having excellent aim, but also for contributing to the team goals with points that will add to a persistent ranking system. The game will also further encourage teamwork by giving each player specific goals that should help new players figure out how to play their character classes, and should give players of all skill levels a good indication, at a glance, of what needs to be done to help win the match (beyond "hey, I'm bored, I think I'll grab a vehicle that other players need and drive around someplace"). In any case, both Wedgwood and Cloud reaffirmed their dedication to making Enemy Territory a challenging but balanced game that rewards skill and good teamwork, citing their lengthy development and support for the previous game as proof.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars certainly looks great from a visual standpoint, but it should be interesting to see whether it will be able to go toe-to-toe with heavy-hitter vehicle-based shooters like the soon-to-be-released Battlefield 2. Quake Wars is tentatively scheduled for release sometime next year.

You can get an idea of what your teammates are doing at a glance, instead of pulling up a menu. Probably a good thing in this situation.

Company of heroes:

Quake wars:
Q3 2006

Hey id is actually Making Quake wars or just outsourcing it like they did with Return to castle wolfenstein and Quake 4 ?

if they're actually making it, its going to rock!

It's a collaboration project.
Here the details.

GRAPEVINE, Texas--The creators of the popular free modification, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, are now hard at work on their next project. While the previous game was based on Gray Matter's Return to Castle Wolfenstein, the new game will be based on id's and Raven's upcoming game Quake 4. Like with that game, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will take place during the conflict between the human soldiers of Earth (known as the Earth Defense Force, or the EDF) and the evil Strogg alien invaders.

The game will be powered by id Software's Doom III engine, but unlike last year's dark, horror-themed shooter, Quake Wars will take place in many varied environments, several of which will be outdoor areas. The new game will use a new "megatexture" technology developed by John Carmack, of id Software, that will let the developers create environments that render terrain all the way out to the horizon (rather than forcing the game to occlude parts of the landscape with fog or other effects to cover up a limited draw distance).

According to Wedgwood, the new technology will also let the development team assign different physical properties to different parts of the level, such as making certain surfaces made of asphalt (which will be noisier to walk upon but offer better traction for land vehicles) and others made of sand (which will be quieter to walk upon but will bog down those military jeeps). Apparently, since the game takes place on Earth just prior to the first invasion conflict that preceded the events in 1997's Quake II (in which players took on the role of a lone soldier who had to hunt down the invading Stroggs' leader), the game will take place in varied environments on the planet. In fact, it will take place not just in the desert region shown in the E3 demo movie but also possibly in temperate and jungle zones.

Here's a game that I was sort of interested in.

Hitman: Blood Money

I've been having a bit of a look at the screens on the X360 and If I say myself, they don't look as good as I thought they would!!

But anyway, the gameplay seems to have been notched up another level.
