Ideally if Iyer and SKY play, Pant should be our finisher. I would go with this lineup

Whatever squad we are building in this next 1 year, I hope we better turn up in the eventual tournament that matters the most.

We have won enough bilaterals in the past as well.

Although the combination of squad that is selected is again a bit mess but will give it a go since its a start.

The thing is players needs to have pre defined role and should be given the position as per that.

I had no idea how I skipped DK. He is probably the best preferred for that role. I don't see India going back to Rayudu and I feel his best spot is no.5, anything lower is not going to help.

Abdul Samad probably needs a couple more seasons to establish himself.

Dube is also a good option and so as Tewatia.

Pant is someone who should be batting the most of last 10 overs. He can be preferred for multiple roles depending upon the situations.

Axar has been past his prime as a batsman and I've never seen him being as effective as he was during 2014/16 but looking at the squad for this series I feel he is going to be trusted this time.

I mean yes.. After the series against you all, he did really good. I am sure under Dravid he will be groomed well as well. If he and Mayank open along with Iyer taking Kohli's place and debuting, what would you tell Gill who has not done bad himself? KL would have not opened had Gill not got injured.

That's just bad luck, when there are so many options you gotta take your chance when it arises and KL did. I wouldn't say Gill has done anything in his tests to make him leap to the head of the queue.
