What's the point of resting Pandya ? Has he improved his game in SA tour ? Certainly his batting was below par. He was rested in SL series which we played before touring SA. He hasn't had workload like Bhuvi, Bumrah and Kohli. He is not established player like MSD. And we are resting him again. This is a ridiculous decision taken by the selectors. They are giving way too much importance to Pandya who definitely doesn't deserve it.

I agree too (that Pandya is being treated as some senior citizen who needs lot of rest). But good thing is, it atleast gives the selectors a chance to test other allrounders who can possibly replace Pandya in future if Pandya is not upto the mark. I am particularly happy that they have selected Hooda and Vijay Shankar.

They picked Hooda ahead of Krunal. And Hooda has also been in the waiting list for sometime now. They wanted to pick a spin allrounder and a seam up allrounder and thats why the selections of Hooda (spinner) and Vijay Shankar (seam up). Krunal is in line and should be tried out soon.

What kind of a bowler is Vijay Shankar? Binny type bowling 110-120kpg nothing deliveries but a superstar in domestic circuit, or can he actually generate some pace like Pandya

Hardik has played every game on this tour starting from the test series. I don't mind him skipping because he actually runs in hard and bowls at a decent click. For all we know, might be close to picking up a niggle. Better to skip a useless series and recuperate than play and get injured needlessly, especially when he is still a certainty in the starting XI

Also a blessing in disguise that we get to try out new guys.

Although I feel like we are going with an almost B team and will be pushed hard in this series by both the teams

What a line to use for the opening post of a Tri Nation series being played in Sri Lanka.

As indicated by @Naman Thakur the Nidhas Trophy is taking place to commemorate and celebrate Sri Lanka's 70th independence. I applaud the BCB/BCCI for sending their teams to participate in this historical achievement for Sri Lanka.

As a cricket fan you should be honored your country was invited to celebrate a fellow neighboring member of the cricket fraternity to mark this historical achievement of their 70th anniversary of independence.

Lets see which other countries are available during this period;

-Aus are touring SA
-Eng are touring NZ
-PSL is taking place in Pakistan
-WI/Zim/Afg/Ire are all in the WC qualifiers

After such a great SA tour, where we witnessed several great matches played, India are back to playing useless series again. I mean, what does the BCCI and the fans get out of watching developing sides like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka? Only money and no entertainment whatsoever.

It's good that the senior players are being rested. This is still a good opportunity for guys like Pandey and Raina prove themselves and try to hold their place down in the ODI squads and the XI in particular.

From this post I gather India should tour only strong teams like SA, AUS, Eng?

Oh come on you know it and everyone knows it. Playing India for 3rd straight time in as many as 1 year is only because to mint money. Also if they had to call India they should have called Pakistan as well. I know PSL is going on but I am sure few players could have come and played here.
