ASHES CRICKET 2009 PATCH:

There has been a lot of speculation regarding a patch, and I just wanted to give you all an update on what the situation now is.

Our original intention was indeed to release a patch for Ashes Cricket 2009, which we were Beta-testing with some members of the Cricket Gaming community at PlanetCricket.net - Cricket Games and Chat - PlanetCricket.net. We are very appreciative of their help with that.
Whilst the PC patch was Beta, and the console patch was nearing completion, it was unfinished and hence un-releasable when complexities arose at the developer, which I?m sure you are all aware of.

We have exerted every effort to complete this work but given the situation this has become undoable, and as such plans for a patch have now unfortunately had to be cancelled.

I hope we can keep the responses here constructive, but as of right now I?m afraid that I cannot say any more than the above.

I have been in contact with Jamie Firth and I know not everyone will believe me but I believe that he did everything he could to try and get the patch delivered.
Codies did more in creating this patch in collaberation with PC than any game company has done before and to blame them for Transmission's demise seems wholly unfair.
Very sad people won't get to see how great the patch was as Darkboyblunder and HSmith1978 and others did a wonderful job.
Sad but not wholly unexpected.

Barmy

Tell him thanks for his efforts but i will not be buying ashes 2010.
Shouldnt have rushed the game out for release in the first place.:facepalm

Sad news but I am optimistic that Ashes 2010 (if there are plans to make it) will be great if they build on the patched version of ashes.

why???:sarcasm

I don't want to answer that.

Also now since Ashes 2009 is history (in development sense), codies should at least release the source for editing game play!!! If they can't do it at least the modders here can make it better.

Absolute BS. We all knew this was going to happen

As did...

Developers, Publishers and everyone else

This is a farce, it has nothing to do with pirates. Codies have a history of NOT providing post-sales support in the form of patches. We have once again been screwed.

They saw no money in making a patch so canned it. All we have been fed is lies.

This is really a very sad news. Really appreciate the way codies and rest put all effort in making the patches but its a shame now cuz of pirates we wont see any more patches..sigh

I understand why you're saying that but all the money had been spent on developing it already so releasing it if possible was a no-brainer.
Anyhow you're right about it having nothing to do with piracy.

Thanks PlanetCricket

To all the guys involved from PlanetCricket a thank you for your efforts in trying to get an 'official' patch released.
Such a shame, such potential!

I will buy Cricket 2010 if it's released (as I did Ashes09) - if we want companies to continue to make cricket games, we need to support those releases to let them know there is a market for it (even if it's crap!) We've seen here that if dedicated guys push our message to a software company (not Codies) we can get positive results.

Sad news. It was expected though. As rlfan82 said, codies have a history of not providing patches esp for their cricket games. Appreciate TG efforts for trying to get it out. Ofcourse, having bought the gamesplanet version, I'm totally screwed. Can't even sell the damn thing. Never ever am I going to buy an online version of a game again.

Also, if Codies or any company making cricket games has any brains, they'll stop making PC versions altogether, given the rampant piracy, and focus solely on console versions.

Feck you Codies  i was waiting for the patch and thats the reason AC 09 is still in my PC. Shame that efforts of darkboy and Smith went all in vain :doh but this is what happened when we are associated with some scum gaming brands :sarcasm Thank you very much codies for disappointing all of us. On the first place we are fool, who were relying on you. You have never ever stands on our expectations except 1999. (the rise of Codemasters) and now 2009 ( The fall of codemasters)

R.I.P

Codemasters

Codemasters have been harming this project from day 1. They barely let the Transmission guys release any information, screenies, videos during the months after the announcement of the game. They barely advertised it during release (paying Shane Warne to hang out in a mall for 30 minutes is not great advertising) and they killed the patch.

Long story short, good job Transmission on creating a great game (albiet very raw) and go fearsome tweak yourselfs Codemasters.

Once again a reminder that the patch wasn't released because Transmission went bust. Not really Codesmasters' fault.

Absolute BS! I was looking forward to playing this on the PS3! Thanks for nothing Codemasters. It's hard enough trying to get my hands on a cricket game living in Venezuela. A big fearsome tweak you to Codemasters.
