Well, the upcoming Orange Box has been high on my pre order list for more than a year. Just 3 days from release, what are peoples views on this "deal of the century"?

The pack includes:

Half Life 2
Half Life 2 Episode 1
Half Life 2 Episode 2
Portal (A new FPS puzzle game)
Team Fortress 2

Now all of this costs just £25, and pre ordering off Amazon.co.uk is just £21.

As the pack includes Half Life 2, and I already own that game with a different key, Steam is giving me the chance to pass the key onto someone else, at no charge. I will still therefore have the game, yet it gives someone else the chance to try the game. Is there anyone interested?

I'm really looking forwards to this, I've been unable to play HL2 since when it came out I didn't have the net and I couldn't get the method where you activate on another PC and put the required files on a CD to work. I'll definitely be getting this, from Gameplay at ?25.

Once you've activated, you can play off-line, can't you? Because I don't want one game to drain my monthly usage limit.

Half Life Episode 2 is a game i've been waiting for for a while. Episode 1 ended rather abruptly and I was shocked to find out i'd completed it inside 2 days! I wanna see what happens after I get on that train...

Hopefully, the main Half Life 2 game was a bit more challenging than that? I'm getting fed up of developers making games that you can blow through in a few days! I mean back in the day, a game would cost you ?3.99 (we're going back into the mists of time here) and would last absolutely ages! Now, devs expect us to stump up ?30+ and they last a few bloody days! I don't care how good a game is, it should last more than a few days!

According to my xfire hours, Half Life 2 took me 18 hours to complete. The endless mods which are associated with it make it worth double the money. My favourite at the moment is Insurgency Modern Infantry Combat, a FPS set in Iraq, which pits Insurgents against Marines.

Steam now employs an offline mode which allows you to play Half Life 2 without an internet connection.

Are there any singleplayer mods? I'm looking forwards to the Black Mesa mod.

Edit: Sorry, just clicked on the link and there are loads of singleplayer mods!

I think more than the short Single player missions, the onus is on multiplayer cabability as the experience is different everytime. In fact, I prefer games which have a solid multiplayer feature, don't really mind the short single player story.

Well, seen as you get Half Life, Ep 1 and 2 and Portal (which has so many options for modders), I would say yes, the SP are endless. Half Life 2 Ep 2 is much longer than Ep 1 was, and a hell of a lot better.

If you have a decent enough PC, get it on there. The mods for Portal will be free. They will be charged for on the XBOX version.
