Keeping isn't the issue. That they have to bat at seven is the issue. They should look for a good, possibly young, batsman who can bowl a few overs. Bopara, perhaps, if they think he is good enough. Throw him in the side instead of Dalrymple. Then you have the two opening bowlers, the specialist spinner, Flintoff at first change plus Vaughan, Collingwood and new guy to cover the gaps.

The funny thing at the end of this series is not who they'll pick as keeper, it's who they'll drop for Pietersen. Joyce has been their best and Collingwood just won them their most important match of the series. Bell and Strauss could well be duelling for an ODI spot.

Bopara is more than capable with turning his arm over for 5-10 overs a game too.

People stop mentioning Vaughan as a bowling option! He will never bowl again with his knee troubles.

Nixon is a good player. Rashid Latif feels he is the best keeper in the world currently...he has obviously not seen KKD :D :p
As for part timers, surely Collingwood and Hussey-dismisser Bopara are enough, along with Monty, Freddie, Plunkett and Lewis/Anderson? And if Dalrymple makes the first XI on his batting, even better. KP might be worth a shot too.

I think Monty, Freddie, Anderson and Plunkett would just about be our best first 4 (Am I missing someone) You should easily get 10 out of Colly, Bopara, etc.

The way we are bowling seems to vary. Strauss (As captain) is happy to use JD and Monty a lot, Flintoff seems to hate Monty, and Vaughan seem to use Monty and not JD.

I wouldn't use JD much either. He is a batter who bowls part-time. Should only be bowled a lot if conditions are helpful. Freddie is a terrible skipper...

We often forget about him. I'd also put him above the current 3 (those being Read, GoJO and Nixon).

Fosters record in an England shirt wasn't all that bad either.

I'm struggling to see see what good he is to the side these days, in the unlikelyhood that he actually scores a century, that would put a lot more strain on his legs than 3 overs of off spin ever will.

hmm...

Is he an option to replace Fletcher?
