I should have used PES and not FIFA to do my current World Cup since all the teams are actually there. Anyway, nice graphics with the teams qualified. Looking forward to this.

Yanks get England, as Portugal draw alongside Brazil

26338393.jpg

The 32 teams participating at FIFA World Cup™ finals discovered their fate this evening when the Final Draw for South Africa 2010 took place in Cape Town.

While South Africans learned that the host nation's Opening Match on 11 June would be played against Mexico at Soccer City, it was the Group D line-up which caused arguably the biggest stir. Germany, Australia, Serbia and Ghana will battle it out for two qualifying places for the Round of 16, meaning two nations with passionate support will depart the tournament early. There could be a high-profile casualty from Group G too, after Brazil, Korea DPR, C?te d'Ivoire, Portugal were drawn together.

An early highlight of the draw was the eye-catching encounter between England and USA, scheduled for 12 June, which evokes the Americans' famous 1-0 win over their transatlantic cousins at Brazil 1950. Argentina, Nigeria and Greece will get the chance to revive their group rivalry from 1994, while the heavyweight collision between Portugal and Brazil on 25 June also has the feel of a derby.

Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France
Group B: Argentina, Nigeria, Korea Republic, Greece
Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
Group D: Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana,
Group E: Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon
Group F: Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia
Group G: Brazil, Korea DPR, C?te d'Ivoire, Portugal
Group H: Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile

I downloaded that patch as well - it's good, but after playing EA's World Cup game, I just don't want to go back to PES 10 - WC 2010 has raised the bar even higher than Fifa 10 'NG' did.

But has EA's Fifa World Cup 2010 released for PC?? I wanted it but couldn't find it for PC anywhere.

Yanks relishing England test

usadempseydonovan28june.jpg

USA internationals Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey insist they are looking forward to locking horns with England at the World Cup. America have been drawn in Group C alongside the Three Lions, as well as Algeria and Slovenia.

England have already been installed as firm favourites to progress to the knockout stages as group winners, but know they cannot afford to be complacent. The USA proved their credentials by finishing as runners-up at the 2009 Confederations Cup, seeing off European Champions Spain along the way, while Algeria and Slovenia are likely to provide stubborn resistance.

Los Angeles Galaxy captain Donovan is adamant England will not have things all their own way in South Africa, claiming America are more than capable of springing an upset. He said: "The US doesn't get a lot of respect on the world football stage but we're used to it and it's to our benefit. We proved that by beating Spain. England will be favourites but we're looking forward to the challenge."

Fulham midfielder Dempsey is also relishing the prospect of going head-to-head with England's galaxy of stars and insists America have enough talent at their disposal to trouble Fabio Capello's side. "It makes it extra special that we are playing England," he said. "It's not extra pressure, it's fun. Most of our guys are playing in the Premier League so we know their strengths and weaknesses."

Onyewu included, as Bradley announces 23-man squad

1219158fulllnd.jpg

United States coach Bob Bradley has finalised his 23-man squad for this summer's World Cup. The Americans will kick-off their campaign in South Africa against England on 12th June.

Included in the squad are AC Milan defender Oguchi Onyewu, who is still fighting for fitness after injuring knee ligaments back in October, all-time top scorer Landon Donovan and UEFA Europa League finalist with Fulham, Clint Dempsey. Glasgow Rangers pair DaMarcus Beasley and Maurice Edu, both of whom have battled with big injuries and poor form of late, are both in Bradley’s final list.

Mexico-based pair Herculez Gomez and Jose Torres are also included while veteran striker Brian Ching, Eddie Johnson and Sacha Kljestan all miss out. "The chemistry in this 23-man team is very good," Coach Bradley went on. "We have a good mix of experienced players and new guys and I believe this is one of our main strengths."

Squad
Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Marcus Hahnemann (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Tim Howard (Everton)

Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra (Stade Rennais), Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Jay Demerit (Watford), Clarence Goodson (IK Start), Oguchi Onyewu (AC Milan), Jonathan Spector (West Ham)

United States - Team Profile

usateam006.jpg

Previous appearance
The United States have taken part at nine FIFA World Cups, with Mexico the only CONCACAF team involved in more editions of the showpiece event. The Yanks' best finals performance came at Uruguay 1930, when they exited at the semi-final stage. South Africa 2010 will be the United States' sixth consecutive finals appearance. At Germany 2006 they bid farewell to the tournament in the first round.

Qualifying
A three-stage affair ended when they topped the last group by a point from Mexico. Losing to their old foes in Mexico City was the only blip but they had already beaten them at home to share bragging rights.

Star Players
The Stars and Stripes have few stellar performers. Landon Donovan has talked the talk for years and his excellent loan spell at Everton this year suggests he's finally becoming as good as he thinks he is. Michael Bradley, the son of "Coach Bob" Bradley, has curbed his clogging this season with Borussia M?nchengladbach and has a knack of getting into the box at exactly the right time.

The Coach
Bob Bradley won the MLS Cup with Chicago Fire in 1998 and was appointed national coach in 2006 after attempts to hire J?rgen Klinsmann foundered over contract negotiations. The Yanks beat Spain in the 2009 Confederations Cup before squandering a 2-0 lead in the final to end as runners-up to Brazil.

Fixtures
* England, 12 June, Royal Bafokeng Stadium
* Slovenia, 18 June, Ellis Park
* Algeria, 23 June, Loftus Versfeld

Chances
Performed well in the Confederations Cup and Bradley's side possess plenty of players with top-level experience in England and Germany. They would be disappointed if they don't make it to the last eight.

Yanks is usually regarded as a derogatory term. Yankees would be more appropriate but still only describes the North East coast.

It would be like me making a cricket story about Pakistan and calling it the Paki Journey.

Just like before, the presentation is done brilliantly. :) And I cannot wait to see what happens.

P.S. I guess you are not going to continue your previous story, right? Just wondering.
