Slovenia 0-1 United States - Half Time
Clint Dempsey celebrates scoring the openers just before half time
Pre-match: Edson Buddle replaces Robbie Findley in the USA starting XI for the clash with Slovenia at Ellis Park. Slovenia make just one change from the team which lost to Algeria, with Dalibar Stevanovic replacing Valter Birsa. The players are out on the field and its the Slovenian anthem first followed by the United States.
1' - Slovenia get the match underway and attack immediately down the right through Dalibar Stevanovic and Branko Illic, but USA eventually clear their lines.
5' - Nejc Pecnik has the first shot at goal but he fires wide of the mark from outside the area.
7' - Slovenia win a free-kick as Novakovic was fouled by Onyewu. Stevanovic takes the free kick but Howard gathers comfortably despite pressure from Marko Suler.
12' - Donovan and co. are struggling to win the ball against Slovenia's combatitive midfield. But then the Stars and Stripes carve out a half chance when Dempsey and Bocanegra combine on the left flank. The American skipper's cross, however, is too close to Samir Handanovic.
18' - United States are starting to hit their straps. Clint Dempsey is set-up by Jozy Altidore after good play by Michael Bradley but the Fulham man's shot is hit straight at Handanovic.
24' - Bradley shrugs off a couple of tackles and shares a one-two with Donovan. The Borussia M?nchengladbach midfielder then tries an audacious backheel in the box but it doesn't find its way through to one of his team-mates and is easily cleared away by Suler.
29' - Altidore finds some space on the fringes of the area thanks to a fine pass from Donovan. The Villarreal striker attempts a curling shot that flashes just wide of the upright.
35' - It's all USA now and Altidore shows his body strength to hold off Andrej Komac and drive into the area. His give and go with Dempsey almost gives the hitman time and space for a shot but in the end the ball rolls through for Handanovic to collect.
40' - USA try attack down the left and Dempsey's perfectly-weighted cross finds the head of Bradley who dives in and makes a decent connection. There's a deflection off a Slovenia defender though and USA win a corner. Handanovic punches clear.

Landon Donovan celebrates his second goal
47' - United States come close to doubling their lead. Donovan skips past his marker and crosses into the middle. Altidore picks up the ball but his shot is wide of the target.
52' - Donovan twists and turns his way past a couple of defenders and his cross for Altidore requires a strong header from Marko Suler for Slovenia to clear the danger.
56' - Howard is the hero, as he makes a dramatic save by diving to his right to block Birsa's effort. Three Slovenia players try to reach the rebound first but United States get out of jail there!
60' - GOAL!!! SLovenia 0-2 United States. USA score a trademark goal after Bradley and Edu toy with Slovenia and pierce through the Slovenia defence with a brilliant passing move. Then Edu pushes to the byline and knocks the ball across the face of goal and Donovan stabs the ball past Handanovic.
71' - Gomez's first touch is a good one that frees space for Donovan who sends the ball to Altidore. The striker tries a give-and-go for Donovan but it is a loose pass and the attack peters out.
74' - Bradley's sloping pass catches Slovenia square and Altidore runs in behind the defence. But instead of looking for Donovan, he somewhat greedily shoots. And that turns out to be a poor decision because the effort is off target.
81' - GOAL!!! Slovenia 0-3 United States. Slovenia push forward only for Dempsey to counter. The Fulham winger takes his time on the ball though and just as it seems the Slovenians have re-organised, Bradley and Donovan share passes and give the ball to Altidore. He plays a beautiful ball through the centre for Donovan who continues his run and although Handanovic gets a touch, he finds the back of the net to make it 3-0. Its surely all over for Slovenia as they will have to book their flights back for home.
87' - DeMerit heads clear a Slovenia cross and Novakovic his the rebound on the volley. Howard makes a sharp save to deny the shot though.
89' - At the other end Beasley times his run perfectly and beats Branko Illic to the ball. Handanovic is forced to rush off his line and Beasley lofts the ball over the Slovenia keeper only to see his effort bounce just wide of the upright.
90 + 1' - Findley's wondeful backheel sets Bocanegra on his way and he lays the ball off to Bradley. His lovely shot from range flies just wide of the mark, much to the relief of Handanovic.
90 + 4' - GOAL!!! Slovenia 1-3 United States. Handanovic takes the goal kick, Pecnik heads the ball towards his strike partner coming ahead of Onyewu. Novakovic controls the headed pass and turns DeMerit and beats him with his pace. Novakovic just has the keeper to beat and he does it well by placing the shot in bottom right corner. Some consolation for Slovenia to take home.

Howard expects tough test against Algeria
United States of America and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is expecting a tough challenge from Algeria in their crunch Group C showdown.
With England currently on top of the group, it is a showdown between USA and Algeria to see who progresses to the knockout stage, with both sides on three points. The Desert Foxes must win, however, as they have an inferior goal difference after they lost their second match to England 3-0.
Bob Bradley's men defeated Slovenia 3-1 in their last game, sending the Slovenians out of the competition, but Howard is expecting a tougher contest against Algeria. He said: "We saw a bit of Algeria's matches in the World Cup, it's going to be a different game, they are a lot more organised than Slovenia, maybe not as individually skilled but they are similar to us, they work as a team.
"It's going to be a difficult game, they'll run their socks off, but it's down to us to break them down. They'll probably be looking for some counter-attacks so we need to be disciplined, but we will also look to score. They are going to be very solid at the back and we need to break them down. I'm sure the manager will have a plan."

The crucial Group C game between USA and Algeria will have the majority of football fans in North Africa and the Middle East glued to their television screens, in the hope that the Desert Foxes, the sole Arab nation represented at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, can upset the odds and qualify for the Round of 16. Will fans from North America will be hoping the same for their team.
KEY CLASH
Landon Donovan v Nadir Belhadj
Portsmouth defender has arguably been his nation’s most impressive performer in their opening two games, his appetite for attack endless and his delivery of a high and comparatively consistent standard. He may have to reign in those instincts to deal with Donovan, though. The LA Galaxy player has been in fine form throughout the group stage and sees this game as his, and his team’s, moment of truth.

- The thing I'm not liking is the header and footer, probably make it thicker and wider.
- Second thing I'm not liking is the speed of the updates, don't care whether is Fifa WC is running into it's finals. It is your world cup, so give time to each update and probaly post 2 updates a day.
- Writing is up to the mark.

Nadir Belhadj and Landon Donovan in action for their countries
Pre-match: Welcome to the decisive game in Group C as USA meet Algeria in Pretoria. USA make just one change as Jonathan Bornstein replaces the suspended Oguchi Onyewu. Algeri keep the same starting XI that lost to England in their previos game. The players are out on the field and its the United States anthem first followed by Algeria.
2' - Rafik Djebbour bursts forward into the box and takes a theatrical tumble in the box under pressure from Carlos Bocanegra but the referee waves play on.
5' - First shot on target comes from Jozy Altidore with a curling effort from the edge of the box which is palmed away unconvincingly by Faouzi Chaouchi.
7'- Clint Dempsey's low cross finds Landon Donovan inside the box in plenty of space but he slices his shot well wide of goal.
13' - Medjani barges over Dempsey on the left edge of the box. Good set-piece chance for USA. Good effort by Donovan from the kick as he looks to curl the ball into the bottom corner and isn't far away from doing so. Chaouchi is at full stretch but the ball flies just past his post.
18' - Donovan strikes at goal from another free-kick 30 yards. This time it's a comfortable take for Chaouchi with a deflection off Medjani taking the sting out of the effort.
22' - Rafik Saifi turns well to get away from DeMerit but his left-footed shot flies well over the bar.
24' - At the other end USA should be 1-0 up. Altidore finds Donovan in plenty of space inside the box but the latter drags his left-footed effort wide of goal. A glorious chance for the Los Angeles Galaxy winger.
29' - The game is getting scrapy with niether side able to find a quality final ball. Another chance for Donovan but his shot from 12 yards out at a slight angle is well blocked by Chaouchi.
34' - Another chance wasted by USA, this time Altidore is at fault. He gets in behind the Algeria defence but instead of going for goal opts to cut the ball back but can't find a team-mate. Bradley then has a shot deflected wide.
39' - Dempsey shows good skill to turn away from Kadir but his cross is cut out by Bougherra at the back post.
42' - Another chance wasted by the Stars and Stripes as Buddle finds space ten yards out but takes too many touches and the shooting opportunity is gone.
44' - Chaouchi akeeps the Desert Foxes on level terms with a really good save from Altidore's powerful left-footed volley across goal.

USA players all celebrate Buddle's winner
46' - USA get the second half under way. Bradley turns well 25 yards out but scuffs his shot and it's an easy take for Chaouchi.
50' - Altidore gets on the end of a through ball but Bates makes a good sliding challenge on the striker who stays down. After some time, Altidore is back on his feet and play resumes.
57' - Big chance for the Desert Foxes as they throw men forward to hit USA on the break. Saifi finds a bit of space 12 yards out but his shot is deflected wide for a corner. Good play by the Africans.
62' - What a chance for Algeria, they should be 1-0 up. Belhadj's brilliant ball into the box is headed just inches wide of Howard's post by Karim Ziani.
65' - Another chance for Algeria but Karim Ziani blasts over the bar from just outside the box.
67' - Dempsey's drive from the edge of the box is turned round the post by Chaouchi as USA continue to look for the opening goal.
73' - A contender for miss of the tournament by Altidore! From just a couple of yards out he somehow balloons the ball over the bar. The offside flag spares his blushes but it's a wrong call, Altidore was onside when the ball was played.
80' - Another shot past the post by Donovan after getting the better of Belhadj on the edge of the box.
90' - Ziani slices well wide from 30 yards out and that should be Algeria's last chance for an equaliser. A few seconds later Saifi hits the post with an overhead kick - but the flag is up for offside!
