Story Planet Cricket XI Tour The World! PCXI Innings Concluded! (C07)

Spoobir can you pick me as a Right arm fast medium bowler as well as I can bowl a bit.

We already have 2 fast medium all-rounders but I can use you as a part time medium pacer, ala Paul Collingwood, if you want?

That'll be fine but I don't want to be an all rounder just an opening batsman who bowls.

Toronto is the first city to host the Planet Cricket XI for their first twenty20 vs Canada. Canada have never played a competitive twenty20 match but then neither have PCXI so there is no clear favourite and the game will likely be a close one.

The stage for the first match on this long tour will be the Rogers Centre, formerly known as the Toronto Skydome.

Primarily a baseball and American football stadium, the $570 million Skydome has a capacity of 50,000 and a retractable roof, so don't expect the match to be rained off. In preparation for the PCXI visit, the Canadians have brought in specialist groundsmen from the West Indies to make sure the pitch is perfect for this great occasion!

Apologies to though who did not get picked, I will be mixing the squad up in upcoming matches.

Also glad to be picked, thanks Spoobir, great graphics and this story looks very interesting! Come on PCXI!

Overs 1 to 10: Match Evenly Poised

The first Twenty20 of the Planet Cricket XI world tour is about to begin! The Skydome is filled to the brim with fans wanting to support their country! Many of the Canadians here tonight are newcomers to the world of cricket but free leaflets explaining the rules have been provided for all who need them.

The pitch seems quite dry and will have some uneven bounce later on.Canada Strike Early
Opener Tom Baker wastes no time in showing the Canadians he means business with a huge slog sweep for four over square leg. The man at the other end, Kieron Tierney, takes a more measured approach, picking up a couple from the first over.

However, in the second over Canadian bowler Cummins bowls some testing deliveries outside the off-stump. Tierney has a tentative push at one such ball and can only succeed in edging it through to second slip. Initially the crowd seemed unaware of the wicket but when they saw their team go up in celebration they soon joined in!

Batsmen Try to Continue the Advance
The captain is next in and immediately stamps his authority on the match with a cracking four over long off and then a belter over point. Baker follows his lead with a pull over mid-wicket for his second four of the match.

Unfortunately he tries to go one too many times and hits one high on the bat which flies up in the air. There is hope for Baker as Welsh has to backpedal furiously to get into position but he takes it cleanly above his head. This time there is no confusion in the crowd and they erupt into cheers! Baker was off after a brief cameo of 11.

Another Wicket Falls
The Canadian slow left armer Sandher is brought into the attack. Webber obviously decides the spinner is the one to target and attempts a slog sweep but can only bottom edge it into the ground. He tries again next ball and this time misses completely and gets hit on his front pad. It seems fairly plumb but he still looks annoyed when the umpire's finger goes up. New man Gutteridge shows him how it's done with a stylish chip over mid-wicket.

At the half way point of their innings PCXI are 64 for 3 with the captain still at the crease. Their predicted score of 128 seems a little low so we will likely see some fireworks in the second ten as they try to up their run-rate.

Cummins economy of just over 5 an over is very good for a twenty20 and along with his 2 wickets is testament to how well he bowled in his unbroken spell. There is, however, a question mark as to why his captain did not save and over for him so he could bowl at the death.

Decent start, but we need to build a partnership and get at least 140+ to win this, but I think with a bit of uneven bounce and what looks like a lot of turn, its perfect for a certain Craig Tough to work his magic, with some of his outrageous leg spin. Hell! I've even heard he can spin it on ice!
