Well, Torres was pretty impressive in my opinion (not viable for the award, I know, 1984) and re-assured the world of his clinical finishing abilities, Lahm was fairly solid in the German defence and he's only 22 or thereabouts, but I do agree, there were some disappointments.

But who doesn't think Valencia was impressive?He was so mature,and worked really hard,physically and mentally.
