Hello all,

I've been thinking of starting a new project which has been named "Cricket Report". Basically, it is a blog that will comprise of all articles cricket related - such as match reports for international and domestic matches, player profiles, statistical analysis, and cricket coaching and tips. We could get regular columnists going, get a full fledged site and become bigger as we gain some popularity.

To go with the blog, i'm thinking of starting some sort of "Show" on Youtube.com that will highlight the week's/biweek's cricket, plus questions that may have been sent to us.

First, tell me if this is a good idea or not :p. Secondly, i'm looking for as many aspiring journalists and interested helpers as possible. So if you want a place to show your writing skills or video making capabilities, here is your chance!

Thanks

Cricketman

I will try and help, looks like a lot of fun as well. :D

Okay, i've asked some people around and most have declined, one has said 'maybe'.

This is more then just a blog, and as we gain popularity and such we could/will probably make money off of this.

So any interested people can just PM me, or post here.

So I am the only one that cares so far? WOW!

You need something that interests people though mate. ;)

Nah, it's a good idea, I just think that the amount of time and effort it may require seems daunting. Also, lots of attempts to start forums/websites ended up fizzling out because they ran out of way to promote the site and couldn't keep up the effort to maintain it.

What you are asking for here is regular contributers to a blog, as well as people not only to help build and set up the site, but to also do the video thing and advertise it enough. Considering that most of the people here are in high school/college, we do have our studies to worry about as well as other priorities, and so can't really focus on building up a website.

If you can recruit a large pool of people, about 30 or so who are semi-willing to help, then you could get it started. Either you get a few people who are very dedicated, or lots who are semi-dedicated. If you get lots, there is less pressure on them to produce articles and reports, as they would believe "If I don't do it, the next guy will". This will allow them to do their articles over a longer stretch of time and with more of a laid-back attitude, and you may get more people willing then.

You could also try collabarating with other small sport/cricket sites that have been set up by members here. That could work.

As Far As I Know affiliating with other sites is a good way to get your site booming. ;)

Same as Feelin Blue, I suppose I could do one every two weeks?

It'd be better if you did it on other sports as well, would attract a broader audience

I can do a blog on Cork City for football for example

I'm thinking of starting on my own for now, I guess. I'm sure as it gains popularity, more people would like to contribute.

Thanks, and i'll keep you guys informed.
