PS3 controller interface?

I don't have a PS3 and am wondering how the controllers plug in. Do they use the same interface as the PS2 are they USB or are they something else?

Basically I'm looking at some arcade fighting sticks and they are for the PS3. I have a PS2 adapter for my PC, so was wondering if I could use them?

Are they all wireless or does it have a wired option? I guess the wireless would use bluetooth, in which case I should be able to use them.

Edit, the one I have my eye on says it has 3m of cable.

I was pretty sure it was all wireless.

But make of you want of this pic.

Well that looks like 4 usb ports on the front to me.

When you want to charge the controller you put one end of the cable in the USB port and the other end in the port at the top of the controller.

Do the fighting sticks have the same input as the controller then?

I don't know of a PS3 > PS2 converter.

only wireless, cannot use ps2 controllers, is a bit annoying

Its both ways. You can use USB controllers and bluetooth ones which needs to be charged by USB cable.

I saw a PS2-PS3 converter on the internet after starting this thread, basically it looks exactly the same as the PS2 - USB converter I have for my PC.

As for the fight stick, I couldn't see what the input was, because it was online and didn't show much info, pretty certain now they are USB.

Thankyou for confirming with a sensible answer :)
