I don't get how the International Rating system for both ODI's and Tests works... I have won my last three ODI and Test series, yet I'm stuck on the same points and same rankings. What is going on??? Will I be stuck at 7th and 5th forever?

ok. you have all the series you've played against all countries away and home last time.
So all the series will be like this (just say you were being NZ)

This will be for both Tests and ODI's to work out each result (These results will be more like tests than ODIs)
Vs Australia (Home) [Your last result against the side, e.g ill make it Lost 0-2]
Vs Australia (Away) [Lost 0-3]
Vs South Africa (Home) [Won 2-1]
Vs South Africa (Away) [Lost 0-3]
Vs India (Home) [Lost 1-2]
Vs India (Away) [Lost 3-0]
Vs West Indies (Home) [Won 2-1]
Vs West Indies (Away) [Drew 1-1]
Vs England (Home) [Drew 1-1]
Vs England (Away) [Won 1-0]
Vs Pakistan (Home) [Won 2-0]
Vs Pakistan (Away) [Won 1-0
Vs Sri Lanka (Home) [Lost 2-0]
Vs Sri Lanka (Away) [Drew 1-1]
Vs Zimbabwe (Home) [Won 3-0]
Vs Zimbabwe (Away) [Won 2-0]
Vs Bangladesh (Home) [Won 2-1]
Vs Bangladesh (Away) [Won 2-0]

So for every series you win you get 2 points, draw = 1 and loss is 0.
The rankings are based on the last series you played against the side (Home and Away)

So if you had them results, you would have 21 points on the Test Rankings. If you then had a series against Bangladesh (Home or Away since you won both of them) and you won it, you wouldn't get any more points since you would just make it another won series so if you won 1-0 home to Bangladesh it would be like this.

Vs Australia (Home) [Lost 0-2]
Vs Australia (Away) [Lost 0-3]
Vs South Africa (Home) [Won 2-1]
Vs South Africa (Away) [Lost 0-3]
Vs India (Home) [Lost 1-2]
Vs India (Away) [Lost 3-0]
Vs West Indies (Home) [Won 2-1]
Vs West Indies (Away) [Drew 1-1]
Vs England (Home) [Drew 1-1]
Vs England (Away) [Won 1-0]
Vs Pakistan (Home) [Won 2-0]
Vs Pakistan (Away) [Won 1-0
Vs Sri Lanka (Home) [Lost 2-0]
Vs Sri Lanka (Away) [Drew 1-1]
Vs Zimbabwe (Home) [Won 3-0]
Vs Zimbabwe (Away) [Won 2-0]
Vs Bangladesh (Home) [Won 1-0]
Vs Bangladesh (Away) [Won 2-0]

See you'll have the same points but just say if you won to Australia home or away, you would gain 2 points as your performance will show that you beat Australia instead of loss and you will gain 2 points since you've gone from 0 - 2 and thats how you move up.

So if you want to gain rankings, beat the teams you have drawn or loss to in your last series. Straightforward

Okay... I think I understand it now. So I have to beat sides, which I have lost to right...

Thanks for explaining. :)

nope, i don't know that much. Just get runs with batsman and wickets with bowlers and move up. They're based on more recent matches as well so its tough to calculate.

The bowlers and batsmen ratings are also based on the quality of opposition, at least it is in ICC06. So if a bowler does well against Zimbabwe it will be worth less than if a bowler does well against Australia.
