I won't say we're the No.1 team in the world if we only get that by thrashing the WI, Pakistan and NZ.

A couple of big summers coming up for the Aussies after this one. The Ashes in 2010/11, India in 2011/12 and the South Africans again in 2012/13.

All this leading up to another tour of England in 2013. Maybe by then we'll have a more clear idea of who is the best.

I still believe only Australia can maintain that consistency. No other team has it. ;)

Whats the thread title??
"Say hello to World's No.1 test team". And I said "Hello".
Whats spam in that??

Sorry to burst your bubble but South Africa didnt beat full strength Australian team. Australia was rebuilding at that time. And india has managed to win test matches in Australia against the strong australian teams. India came so close to win their first series in Australia in 2003(which india dominated). I guess you were in your nappies then? And 2008 wasnt bad either apart from sydney test controversy. You can go and check head to head records of South Africa and India against Australia in Australia.

South Africa just beat Australia when they were in rebuilding phase and suddenly they are the toughest competitors of Australia? What kind of BS is this? Can South Africa do a Kolkata? Can they challenge Australia in every match year after year at home and away? Only time will tell. South Africa lost the home series against Australia after winning it in Australia.

India defeated Australia in 2001 thanks to some of the most disgraceful umpiring I have ever seen in my life which is highly ironic considering how Indians crap on about the Sydney test.

Was I in nappies in 2003? Nope, I'm old enough to remember India breing brushed aside like park cricketers in 1999/00 and was even at the Sydney test where South Africa defended about 113, were you in nappies then? We were also not at full strength in 2003/04 if you remember (selective memory I bet) missing both McGrath AND Warne for that series and we had it all over India in Brisbane and Melbourne and Sydney was a dour draw so I am not sure how you can say you dominated that series.

Also, it is nice to know that India's win against Australia in India in 2008 should have an asterix next to it as you say we were in a rebuilding phase.

You can bring out all your little statistics - like the Kiwis do when trying to prove silly points - and your little "we dominated a drawn series" (also like Kiwis) but the fact remains you didn't win a series out here and South Africa did and both teams have beaten India at home.

Aussies did lose Border Gavaskar Trophy at Australia.
The Sydney Game makes it clear..
Symonds 3 times saved, and Dravid given out even for a not out.
Not only that, many conflicts in that game..
But If I were the head of BG trophy, I'd have declared that match abandoned.

PS: I even support Australia.

OMFG, please do not do this. I'm actually begging, don't ruin one of the greatest test series of all time by bringing up some random bad umpiring.

That makes up for the 2001 series of atrocious umpiring in India then.

I'm not blaming Aussies indeed I pity them.
Winning the game by taking umpire's advantage is not worth a win.
Dhoni walked out even when umpire din't turn green.
I feel Bucknor was the one, who played spoilsport.

PS: I'm not a Dhoni Fan..

Disgraceful umpiring? Look who is talking. :laugh

And we are talking about this decade 1999 series doesnt come in that. And in 1999 indian team was very weak as compared to 2001.

Not exactly. In 2008 in australia both gilly and hayden were part of that team.
And in india your team came with Johnson, Siddle, Lee and Hayden was also part of that team. Please go and compare the team that played against india in 2008 to the team that played against South Africa in Australia.

Mcgrath and Warne missing? Are you talking about that warne who used to see Sachin smashing him all over the park in his dreams?

Yes india didnt win that series(2003). In the first test match rain saved australia(short memory?). Second one australia won convincingly. It was all India after that in the next two test matches.

Yeah i remember NZ did dominate that drawn series. They pwned Aus in the drawn series.

Funny huh? India got the rub of the green in 2001 yet always crap on about the Sydney test.

I didn't say the series counted just we destroyed you to highlight I wasn't "in nappies" in 2003.

Not exactly. In 2008 in australia both gilly and hayden were part of that team.
And? Langer, Warne, McGrath & Martyn were not.

And in india your team came with Johnson, Siddle, Lee and Hayden was also part of that team. Please go and compare the team that played against india in 2008 to the team that played against South Africa in Australia.

The same "weak" team that lost to South Africa also beat them IN South Africa, when did India last do this?

Mcgrath and Warne missing? Are you talking about that warne who used to see Sachin smashing him all over the park in his dreams?

The same Warne Sachin smashed when Warne had a broken finger and returned from shoulder surgery.

Yes india didnt win that series(2003). In the first test match rain saved australia(short memory?). Second one australia won convincingly. It was all India after that in the next two test matches.

India won the second test actually, we smashed you in Melbourne and were 6 down chasing about 90 with Simon Katich looking good before time ran out and had time not been running out Steve Waugh wouldn't have given his wicket away slogging and we probably would have won.

Yeah i remember NZ did dominate that drawn series. They pwned Aus in the drawn series.

Just like India, can only "pwn" in a drawn series.

All I point out is that whenever an India whinges about the Sydney test the same thing happened to us 7 years before.

I barrack for Australia :doh

Its all ancient history. If you're going to argue about the Sydney Test now it's pretty immature, and there's really no point playing tit for tat.

It was strange he assumed you were an Indian just because your views were different from his :p

It doesnt hurt, because its NOT TRUE!!!! You're referring to that Kolkatta test where Hayden and Gilchrist were given out LBW and Shane Warne was given out off that hat trick ball. Hayden was out, Gilchrist's looked a little iffy but in the end, I can understand why the umpire gave that out, and Shane Warne was OUT (the ball didnt hit the ground, it hit the bat)!

We didnt make a furore at SCG because of the umpiring. It was because IT WAS BUCKNOR! We dont like Bucknor, THATS IT! No one can change that! He has given so many wrong ones against us. The 1999 Sachin Tendulkar "shoulder before the wicket" against McGrath was one of the most atrocious ones ever! Did that create a furore? NO! Why did the SCG one do it, did you think?
