Allright, I need help! =P
I played a match against NZ, and after the match I found out that I made all my runs on the leg side. I got quite dissapointed. I can't hit the ball right in the gaps on offside to get the runs. So I hit boundries and singles to the legside. I really wan't to score atleast 30% from Offside. So do you got any tips for me? I don't think going in nets will work because I use the same timing on legside shots wich go for 6, and off side go 3 yards and the filder stops it. I also find it difficult to hit drives for four and come down the track sixers! :p

what AI patch are you using?

None Ai patch yet, I am thinking of doctor crickets patch. But I don't know wich of those 3 versions to download. Anyway I think that the thing is that he bowlers hardly bowls a ball wide at the stumps, so I have to move aside and score runs from there..

I play cricket 2K5 on PS2 (thus with no patches) and get runs through off side using the following shots :-

1. Advance down the wicket cover drive - Use lofted (with 6 hit button) advance down the wicket cover drive in odis when fielding restriction is on. This gets you a one bounce 4 or an occasional 6 all the time and is a very useful shot at the beginning of odis. You can also play advance down the wicket cover drive without the 6 hit button to pierce the off side field and get 4s. Once the fielding restrictions have lifted, play this shot to get singles (without 6 hit button) to the off almost every time. In tests, you get a 4 nearly every time you play the shot. Play this shot to medium length or half volleys on or outside off stump and take stance on or outside leg.

2. Advance down the wicket square drive - Play this shot in odis along the ground (without 6 hit button) to get a 4 in case of fielding restrictions or 1 when the field is spread. Gets you plenty of 4s in tests also. Play this shot to medium length or half volleys on or outside off stump and take stance on or outside leg.

3. Advance down the wicket straight drive - Play lofted version of the shot when fielding restrictions are on in odis and you will get 6 most of the times. When the field is spread, play the shot without 6 hit button to get easy singles to long off. Lofted advance down the wicket shot is a pretty useful shot in tests as you get easy runs as there's no long off. Play this shot to medium length balls that are pitched on or outside off stump and take stance on or outside leg.

4. Backfoot glide to 3rd man - Play this shot only when your batsman's confidence is high and there are no slips. Play this shot to short balls on or outside off and you will get 4 or at least a couple with this shot.

5. Back foot Square Cut - Very difficult shot to time but you can get a 4 when you get a bouncer (extremely short ball) on or outside off and you have taken stance outside leg. I tend to time the shot when I have taken two steps outside leg!

For playing off side shots, take stance on leg or outside leg. Also note, most of the shots through off side are 'advance down the wicket' shots ('O' button in PS2) and the reason is that the standard shots lack enough power to beat the field and get runs. But your timing for advance shots has to be spot on, else you will spoon the ball to cover or edge the ball to slip/gully or wicket keeper.

Oh no, Now I can hit six easily off the advance the track shot! =/
Rats! I need a patch! :p

lol, There's a simple solution to that, Don't play the shot :)

I would still recommend getting a patch though, The AI by itself is not too good.
