Security on CD

Hi, I am aware that it will reinstall the drivers and I thought that it could help, obviously not ;)
A good forum to try is www.pchelpforum.com
They've helped me several times so it's worth creating a topic there.
:)

I tried the above and all that happens is that BLIC reinstalls the software when you try to load it up.

Oh well :(. I have contacted Codemasters as you suggested. They have replied telling me to run DXDIAG. Did they do the same for you? Have you had chance to do that yet? I am at work so it will have to wait.

God knows why they want DXDIAG to run anyway... I already sent the output of the copy protection diagnostics... and it is clearly a problem with copy protection not graphics drivers! I imagine it is the standard reply to all support requests...

Yup did all of that. It looks like they are not quite sure what to do, but I do know that they are looking into it. Make sure that you stress to them that it is a DELL machine that you re using. Hopefully they can sort out something. I am also going to ring DELL later on and see if they are able to help in anyway.

I think it may only be fairly new Dell machines that are not working, so it may be a new one for them... depends how many games they've brought out recently.

Please do reply to the thread if you get anywhere :)

Will do.

Ok Update:-

Rubbergenuis has been looking into this issue, he has contacted the head person and it a problem with the drives that are fitted on the dell machines, they are looking into the problems and are going to throughly test it out and hopefully a fix well be released in due course, it could take some time so as rubber suggested all that we can do at the moment is be POSITIVE!!

I would hope so, when I went to Codemasters all of the PC's were Dell so they should have one somewhere to test it on ;)

u can try to update the firmware for ur DVD drive

Well I have two Dell PCs and BLIC works only on the (slightly) older one, so it may be a case of DOWNgrading the firmware, if such a thing is possible.

it is possible if the firmware is availaible
Are the DVD drives on the two PC's of different manufacturer/model it may be the case that ur drive might be having problems with starforce

Argh, I just had a thought that may contradict my new/old theory.
BLIC doesn't work on the PC which just has a DVD reader and writer (one device).
The other PC has two devices - a reader/writer and a separate reader. Maybe, without really noticing, I put the DVD into the reader only drive on the machine that works...

I'll post the make of the drive that appears not to work later.

Ok update:-

Codies have sorted out the problem for me.

They e-mailed me a recovery key, this worked and the game now works perfectly. The recovery key is individual to each cd so all of you having problems with this issue you need to get in touch with them and they will be able to resolve the problem.

I would also like to thank them, really good service, good communication and they resolved the issue, also thanks to Rubber for his help. Top marks to them for customer/technical support.

Not the case for me unfortunately, i have been trying for 2 days to get a decent reply and all i get back is a request for a screenshot of the error messgae, depsite their not being one. I have over the course of my enquiries sent 4 e-mails featuring the disc number, and all i get back is request for dxdiag reports. Even when i send a specific request for a recovery key with the disc number all i get is "send us a dxdiag report".

Jeez DXDiag doesnt even show info on the disc dive, so why do they want it

p.s my problem is slightly different, the game keeps asking for a cd key, when i dont have one

Maybe you should just send them a dxdiag report then :p

I do a lot of telephone support in my line of business and there is nothing worse than someone not doing what you ask them, if you want someone to help you you should really try what they request regardless of if you think it is helpful or not.

Thats the thing i have sent them the DXdiag report....THREE times, all on seperate occasions, even though i cant see a point in it
