Semi-final 1: Uruguay v Netherlands, Tuesday 6 July 2010 at 18:30 GMT

The Dutch should win this. No disrespect to Uruguay but if they reach the final instead, I will not bother watching the match.

Slovakia spent days to figure out how to stop Robben. Brazil tried to stop Robben by hitting him on the ankles and hamstring (the step of the red carded Felipe Melo was on his hamstring). It's probably now Uruguay's time to figure out how to stop him.

World Cup 2010: Uruguay make plans to stop Robben

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez has drawn up a plan to stop Netherlands forward Arjen Robben in their World Cup semi-final in Cape Town on Tuesday.

Sebastian Abreu, hero of the shoot-out win over Ghana, said: "Tabarez has been talking to us about Robben and how to stop a player like him.

THere will be an interesting competition between Diego Forlan and Sneijder, both are in solid form.
Though I think Uruguay will miss Suarez by a mile.

So, it's getting very tense and tight - can Uruguay save themselves at the death?

Edit: Finally, van Bommel has been booked! He's done enough tonight for at least two red cards!

No they can't. Holland through to the final. :)

Wow, that was some game. Holland through to the final. Hoping for Germany vs Holland now. If Holland play like they did today and Germany continue playing as they have been, it will be a really exciting final.

Fidel Castro will not be happy :p.

Dirk Nannes hit that six off Gul when he heard the news!!

Oh yes! Brilliant stuff. Bit of luck now and then but you need that. It will be a Holland-Germany final. Holland is going mad at the moment absolutely bonkers. I know, I am there in Amsterdam!!!!:):yes

I wanted Uruguay to equalise purely for the way in which Robben left the pitch when subbed off.

The Netherlands win. :) Most people expected it, but still they had to play the match. The match was a bit tougher then I had expected. Uruguay really gave a fight.

The first half of Netherlands vs Uruguay was at the same time when Pakistan was playing the last overs against Australia. So I had to look at both screens at the same time.

When Forlan had the ball in that situation (behind the penalty area and the defender let him a bit loose) I knew it would be a goal. A bit strange that Robben had scored with his head.

The end was pretty tense. Uruguay made even a goal then.

Anyway I want to see a new World Champion, which means a team that has never been World Champion before.

So I am favouring a Netherlands vs Spain final.

Really? Wow - the atmosphere must be unbelievable. Imagine how it'll be if they win it!! :)
