isnt this racial prejudice?

then we can also ask that should all english cricketers
(yes english not imports like strauss, caddick, jones, pieterson and hussain) learn to speak hindi, urdu and afrikaans?

English is the international language.I believe almost every country communicates in English and not in Hindi,Urdu.

I dont believe all cricket players should but i think when you play International cricket you should get English lessons along with that. I think if Sachin didnt understand English people wouldnt think of him so highly.

Afrikaans isn't even a proper language, it's a dialect mixed of other languages, much like Yiddish.

All modern languages are a mish-mosh of older languages. English is riddled with French, Latin, Greek, Celtic and Germanic roots.

Yeah, in Pakistan (don't know about India). All your mum wants you to be is a engineer, doctor, or in the army, like wtf? innit.

What are the odds that you will become a cricketer? Engineers, doctors and army personnel are guaranteed money anywhere in the world because of their high demand.

Most people play Cricket or any other sports on their free time, and if they are lucky enough they get recognized.

What I understand in that part of the world is that English makes a person educated which is not true. When I go to Pakistan, almost every one of my family members knows english. But I don't talk in english there cause I'm in Pakistan, and therefore I assume urdu would be a more used and understood language.

we a good team we have consistency but not regular we have net practice but we work more hard from now onwards heard from Pakistan Captain (Inzi)

@T only basic is needed

what say?

English is the international language and is spoken by more of the popular than any other language barring maybe Mandarin, but that's simply due to the overwhelming numbers in China rather than a world wide thing.

I don't think players need to learn English obsessively. I think enough to do a simply after game presentation is simply enough. Although its more of a neccesity for skippers. Frankly anyone who argues this is racist is just attempting to be reactionary.

They should learn basic English at least. It will do them good. It is the international language and they will be able to communicate with the majority of the world.

You basically can’t tell each one of them what to do, and it’s purely up to the person and the cricket academy/board to decide if they want their Cricket team to be a well educated list o guys, who can communicate to other people well, and have no misunderstanding (for example, how Malik was misquoted by the Media).

Where, on these lines (don’t know about BCCI), but certainly PCB havn’t done much, to educate, stuff like learning English, knowing not to take medicine which is illegal, stuff like that.

I'm not saying force them. I'm saying they should because it would help them.

I think it would do the whole world good if everybody learned a foreign language. For a cricketer, English would probably be the best second language to learn.

I say that after a cricket match, weather we win or lose, if a player who doesn't know english comes up for the presentation, it really embarrasses me. Lets just take Inzamam as an example...He played International cricket for 15 looong years and still didn't know proper English. They should really know atleast basic English if not complete English.
