Simon Katich and his thumb...

Was going to add this to the India tour thread, but since that's over I've made a new thread.

So anyway I read that Simon Katich played the 2 Tests in India with a broken thumb, which he thought was only fractured...The Ashes 2010-11: Broken thumb hurts Simon Katich | Cricket News | The Ashes 2010-11 | Cricinfo.com

And he says "It definitely hindered me during the first Test in Mohali," Katich said. "I felt like I was batting one-handed. It felt better in the second Test but the big problem was it affected my preparation. I had to stop hitting balls."

WHY THE HELL WAS HE PLAYING??? Why do we even take reserves...

I know Australia likes an unchanged lineup but when these kind of reports come out it makes you wonder. Andrew Symonds played in Melbourne v SA in 2008 with a dodgy knee and was hobbling around in the field like an old man. It was a shameful selection. And here we are again with Katich who says he was hindered and the results prove it.

Anyone got some other thoughts on the issue? Am I making too much of this?

Haa..SMH. No wonder he played the spinners like that in India. Since Katich on his previous tours to the sub-continent never played spin has nervy as he did in the recent series. Crazy stuff indeed..

Team of the future.

1. Watson
2. Hughes
3. Clarke
4. Marsh
5. Khawaja
6. Ferguson
7. Paine

Please tell me you're talking about Mitch Marsh and not Shaun Marsh.Good team by the way, Wade should give Paine good competion by then.I'll then add the possible bowling attack:

8.Hazlewood
9.Pattinson/Starc/Copeland
10.Boyce
11.Hilfenhaus

I think we can assume from the avatar that yes - he's talking about Shaun.

Oh no, i think he meant Mitch Marsh, Shaun wont ever get near a test side with his technique particularly with the deliveries outside off stump.A good odi player but nothing more.

If Simon Katich's thumb is right, then he should play in Brisbane. No questions asked.

Nah, he shouldn't. I can't stand watching him bat, so he can take as long as he likes to heel his thumb. Preferably until Mid January.

Really? I love watching Katich bat. One of my favorite players! I love the way he goes about his innings'.

How is that even possible? Its not as though he's got a horrid technique to watch but scores his runs quickly and has a slog. He's a defensive crab who I hate watching. Very good batsmen mind.
