Sir Alex retires!

I hope its Moyes that gets it. Stick with a British manager.

:lol ye. Once he is from england, scotland, NI or Wales i'm good. The premier league has enough non UK players & managers getting chances at the so called big clubs.

Coming up against the one of the greatest club sides of all time put paid to that.

Ye in some ways i agree with that, as the article highlights:

quote said:
That new balance resulted in a three-year sequence of semi-final (2007), victory (2008) and final (2009), as well as another final again in 2011. In short, it was the sort of true competitiveness in Europe that many had for so long expected from Ferguson's United.

As you say if this wasn't the Barca era he would have won 4 Euro titles.

his european record is great. he never dominated, but it's all but impossible to dominate europe, as barcelona, "The Greatest Team in History", are showing.

english football took a good 3-4 seasons to recover from the exodus of talent caused by the heysel ban (and fergie won the cup winners cup the season that was enforced) plus EPL teams were affected by the foreigner rules which meant they could play any UK players in the league but anyone not english counted as one of their foreigners. with giggs, irwin and hughes being key players it kinda shafted them a bit.

so you have about 17 seasons or so he could realistically compete in europe, they won 2 cups. only madrid and barcelona managed more than that with 3 over that time period and milan managed it twice. so man u were basically the 3rd or 4th most succesful european team, pretty good if you ask me.

just hope moyes is allowed to bring in the players he wants. man u were planning to have a big sale at the end of the season so he's got a good opportunity to make some adjustments. baines and fellaini to follow him?

I'm sure Baines and Fellaini - the latter especially - will be in a Utd shirt next season.

Heard a reporter on Radio 5 Live talking about the mood at Everton today. People are 'gutted'. They were asked who they wanted as their manager, and they all said 'David Moyes'.

A six year contract at United shows that they are desperate for longevity to continue.

It was quite funny with the couple of cock-ups United made about the announcement today - putting a picture saying "#UNITEDCONTINUED" on facebook before it had been officially announced. To be fair though, the last time they had to announce a new manager the world wide web didn't exist!

True!!

Do you know that people are already saying 'Moyes Out'? Seriously, get a bloody grip people! :facepalm

That seemed to be United's Asian 'fans'. They were all creaming themselves over Mourinho. I think Moyes is perfect to be honest.

Now if Everton would take Hughton...

Thought you loved Hughton? Or are you now starting to see why I thought he'll always be a crap manager ;)
