With the year coming to an end, the announcement of the upcoming BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards gave me an idea:

Why don't we pick our unofficial PlanetCricket Cricketer of the Year?

What I'd like you to do first is nominate a player you think is deserving of the accolade. Just reply to this thread with a name and a couple of sentences on why they are your choice.

We generally have an official awards ceremony at the end of the year on this forum. We already nominate and vote for the Cricketer of the Year over there.
