Other people here have a thread like this so I figured that I could have on too. So, I too am going to post about how my season goes - from training to playing, etc.

Today at 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time, I have to go out to stadium drive to try out for the Rep squad. I am 12 years old and I will be facing 16 year olds so it's a bit of a dawnting prospect but I think that I am up for the challenge and am quite capable of getting into the squad based on how I bowl. The session will go for 2 hours so it'll end at 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time. I am a right arm bowler, medium fast and very accurate. I am a bowler that is able to hit the spot on the pitch that I want 9 times out of 10, I am classified as the younger McGrath and hence the name Magpie, as Pidgeon has already been taken. So wish me luck though guys.
I just got home then from rep trial's. The team will be announced in saturday's paper and hopefully I see my name there on the list. Our first (provided that I make it of course) will be against Armidale on the 13th of October. I bowled decent, I had a lot of trouble with my run up as we were trying out in the rain. I was wayward at times and generally was just spearing them down the leg side. I bowled well against one of my best mates though (Not Jakester1288 either) and I bowled six deliveries to him, three of which were brilliant out-swingers which knocked over his off-stump. Batting was the biggest challenge of all for me though as I am shocking with the bat in hand. I batted reasonable well though for my standards but it really helped a lot because I was batting against my mates (Jake McDonald, Ben Beehag, Zach Symons and Kurt Atkinson) all of which I was confident in facing as I knew exactly how and what they bowled. I put all of Ben's spinners away with ease as they were kind of half volley lollipop type deliveries which were pretty much just screaming at me 'belt me, belt me.' Which I did, hopefully Chris Moran noticed this (he selects the team) and this will help my cause. Well, here I am now though... back on The Animal Enclosure forums telling you all about it. Wish me luck so I get picked guys.

Sounds like you bowled well. Hopefully the selector didn't see those balls down the legside.

If I make it into the rep squad we'll be going to Tamworth for 4 days to play Armidale, will be tiring stuff.

I just home from my first ever training session. I swear I am in the wrong grade or something because I was bowling little medium pacers at about 60 kilometers per hour, and they were going 'slow down, you're too fast'. So funny though, I cannot bat to save myself but I was carting them. Except Jakester1288 who wasn't even meant to be there. He was getting his (what I think was a tampered ball as I saw him roughing it up on the concrete) ball to swing a mile, he was also bowling purposeful body-line deliveries which I found unfair. All in all though I had a great time.

He allowed to do balls like that sometimes and roughing up the ball... well he wants to be Trescothick:p

He's like 11 years old you spaz! Good stuff Spinsky, keep it up and you'll make the squad.

ya i dont get this people think they are pro if u can face 140km and i dont think so he is only 11 so i think thats a good pace

Actually I remember a lad who I played with who was very similar to your style, he is young about 10 so close to Spinksy's age and he was always bang on target and a very troubling pace bowler. He may have been slower like around 50 MPH but he is young so I thought his pace is actually really good for his age.

Spinksy your a little bit older but you are still bowling around 60 MPH i think you are a very promising youngster and can go far in Cricket if you are able to work as hard as you can:cheers

LOL 60 KMPH and too fast
I am only 12...
:crying

Spinksy added 0 Minutes and 56 Seconds later...

I will try, and hope mate. :D

It's ok mate, I feel slow anyways. Don't worry about it, just try and keep this thread active. ;)

I will mate and I feel reading your words that you've got that thing in you to become a star

I received the paper earlier this morning, the one that was meant to show the rep team. But unfortunately there was no announcement. :(
