South Africa Throw Away Good Advantage as Akmal Holds Strong
Pakistan went in on the first day for 347-7 as South Africa couldn't dismiss Pakistans lower order, The First wicket to fall was In-Form Imran Farhat LBW b De Wet for 25 off 46 deliveries the very next ball Brilliant work by debutant Wagner gathered the ball quickly and got a direct hit to end Umar's Stint and the crease he scored 15 off 37, Younus Khan went next LBW b Morkel for 13 off 26, Next was Yousuf LBW b Morkel he hit 11 of 22 balls an 100 hundred partnership between Inzy and Afridi before Wagner claimed his first test wicket and that off a settled Ul Haq he was extatic about the wicket before breaking into tears in shear happiness, Afridi then soon followed An Inside Edge off the bat onto pad and sent his bails flying He scored 67 off 86 balls, De Wet the man picking him up, Akmal and Ahmed put on a fifty parntership before Ahmed edged to Wagner who dived to take a stunning one handed catch off the bowling of De Wet he went for 25 off 46, Gul 15* and Akmal 84* stopped South Africa taking anymore wickets as they walked into the pavillion
Akmal Supported the tail well to boost the score up
South Africas Bowling was much better today they bowled well in Batsmen conditions
I Managed to grab Neil Wagner at the end of play to have a few words with him
"So Neil Good Start to your international career, a run out , superb catch and the wicket of Inzy you must be pleased with yourself" "Yeah im quite pleased with myself im glad i took the wicket but i wished i could have taken more"
"Talk us through that run-out then" "I think i just got lucky the ball went straight into my hands and bounced just right to hit the stumps"
"Go Have a rest you deserve it" "thanks"
See you tommorow then to see if South Africa can prevent Akmal getting a hundred and bat well to change the course of the series
At the beginning of the day South Africa had to take the remaining 3 wickets they did so effectively with Akmal Denied a hundred and De Wet picking up his 2nd test 5 wicket-haul, Akmal fell 6 runs short of his century after being C by Dippenaar off the bowling of Morkel, Gul soon followed in the next over after De Wet picked him up LBW for 18, Raza then hit a cameo innings off 28 off 18 deliveries scoring in just boundries but it was his partner who fell to De Wet for 4 after being bowled clean.
South Africa bowled well in the morning with De Wet and Morkel froming a deadly partnership to clean the last 3 wickets up
South Africa Recover From Openers Collapse
Openers Dippenaar and De Villiers fell for 1 Run to leave South Africa reeling at 2-2 But the next four batsmen battled hard in swinging conditions to boost the score up to a close of play score of 214-4, Prince and Kallis put on a hundred partnership with Kallis scoring 58 before Raza picked his second wicket clean bowling the captain Prince got to 65 before Raza picked him up a faint edge from the bat which carried to Akmal, Rowley 48* off 137 balls and Duminy 36* off 104 balls reached the close of play to a standing applause from the South African Balcony
South Africa are 179 runs behind with 6 Wickets remaining
"So Freidel another 5 wicket haul for you today you seem to be fitting in well" "Im Definately pleased with whats happened in my first two tests I hope I can continue with this form"
"People are calling you the new Pollock due to your Niggling Accuracy and wicket taking abilty" "Its what I grew up doing my dad told me just bowl accurately and you will get rewards its not how fast you are its where you put the ball"
"Thanks for your time"
South Africa scraped to 413 all out with Van Jaarsveld top scoring with 98* and J Duminy 88, the first wicket to fall of the day was Rowley who passed his fifty but was caught by Farhat off Ahmed, A huge parntership for South Africa between Jaarsveld and Duminy boosted the score up to 320 before Duminy was caught by Umar bowled Ahmed, Jaarsveld and Wagner batted for a while before the Wagner Resistance off 11 off 63 balls was ended by Ahmed with Younus Khan taking the catch, Jaarsveld and Morkel put on a fifty partnership before Morkel was on his way back scoring 21 off 39 balls, Umar taking the catch with Gul taking the wicket, De Wet made 1 before Ahmed clean bowled him, Nel let his partner down by going for a big shot to get off the mark but he could only spoon it Khan with Raza the benificiary, Jaarsveld was not pleased and started shouting at Nel whilst walking off the pitch.
Pakistan Survive Tricky 1 hour session
Pakistan went in to the pavillion at the close of play at 82-0 with Farhat 35* and Umar 38*
South Africa need to bowl Pakistan out below 300 to win the game as the surface is becoming worse all the time
