This could be one of the most important threads for the Stadium War game (once again to join and play it click here). All of the media releases will be posted here, so this is where you will find out if your stadium has been chosen to host an international match or not.

Sorry to double post, but I haven't got much choice in this thread.

(06/04/07 12:52) England announce schedule

England are going to play a home series against Zimbabwe, it has been announced. The series will consist of 3 ODIs and be played between 09/04/07 and 13/04/07. The IRCG is set to reveal the stadiums at which these will be played at tomorrow.

Schedule

9th April: 1st ODI at TBA
11th April: 2nd ODI at TBA
13th April: 3rd ODI at TBA

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will have more time to improve your stadiums ready for the announcemet in future but this is just to get started. Remember, only English stadiums can be chosen to host one of these internationals! This series is likely to be very low key: Zimbabwe are nothing compared to Australia so crowds are likely to be low. Also, say Zimbabwe win the first two matches: crowds are going to be extremely low for the last match that won't affect the outcome (a series loss for England). Due to this, you may want to improve your stadium enough to host one of the first two matches rather than the last one.

Selection was easy really: TARDIS just wasn't as up to scratch as the other stadiums in England.

England cruise past Zimbabwe as OCCG puts on a grand show

20000 people watched England beat Zimbabwe by 9 wickets in the first ever cricket match to be held at the OCCG. Only 5000 seats were empty as nothing but good reviews were heard of the facilities available.

On the field, Ian Bell's unbeaten 102 eased the home side to victory after James Anderson's 4 wickets has restricted the Africans to 184 all out.

"The seating is fantastic... so comfortable. They're so much better than those horrible temporary seating that some stadiums have," said a spectator.

The match reportedly brought in ?1,000,000 in revenue for the brand new venue.

With England able to win the series on Wednesday at the One and Only Dome, more large crowds are expected.

Hehe, customer satisfaction is what it is all about.

I did not think it would be sold out.

Domestic team moves in to The OCCG

Charlton Colts, a team playing in London League, have moved into The OCCG and they will play all of their home matches there from now on.

"It is fantastic for Charlton Colts to play their home matches at a state of the art international venue. It is rare for relatively small domestic teams to be able to do something like this but we have taken advantage of the short history of the stadium," said Charlton Colts owner Michael Smith.

Charlton Colts were formed in 2006 and finished in second place in London League in their debut season. The team are predicted to win the competition this season with overseas player Chris Cairns.

The OCCG hosted it's first one day international on Monday April 9 2007 between England and Zimbabwe, with England winning by 9 wickets with an attendance of 20,000.
